@josh @darnell@threads.net @potus As @threads does not yet allow reply backs to the #Fediverse, I am replying via my solo #Mastodon account.
As a #Republican it is not surprising you are enjoying seeing #Democrats fall apart before their convention. However, the #GOP is embracing authoritarianism which should frighten anyone who hold civil liberties dear (regardless of party affiliation).
I am #Libertarian & I am horrified what #Republicans are offering: an illiberal theocratic democracy like #Hungary 🇭🇺.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I made the mistake of commenting recently on a popular left/liberal blog that Biden, frankly, looks terrible — he is clearly struggling, even compared to 2020 — and got so much intense, personal, targeted abuse ("you want Trump back" "STFU, DINO" "you're an idiot") that I ended up deleting my Disqus account.
As that great Marxist (Chico) said, "Who you gonna believe? Me or your own two eyes?"
Yeah, "instances" and "servers" mean the same thing on here, it's the place you signed up for an account.
As BrisWombat said, you can see your account's server in the second part of your handle.
Facebook has 2.5 billion active users.
Twitter has 340 million active users.
Regardless of network effect, I use neither of those services (for wildly different reasons).
Thus, if someone *really* wants to talk to me on social media -- and it's absolutely critical -- they will probably need a Fediverse account.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't care how many people use Facebook or Twitter.
What I care about is what I can use indefinitely.
