@nando161 one thing I noticed when doing outreach work, is that there is indeed a correlation between homelessness and drugs. But in the majority of cases, the person started using drugs to cope with being homeless. Which is the reverse of the common narrative. You try going for a week getting kicked awake by cops every time you fall asleep where people can see you, and see how long it takes before you're using chemicals to stay awake.
@AnarchoNinaWrites this is how the myth of meritocracy can really backfire on those who subscribe to it. You believe someone else is better suited to step up so instead of empowering yourself you end up sitting on your thumbs waiting for someone else to fix the mess, trusting that there's a good reason they haven't done so already.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I think the fatal flaw here is that liberals are waiting for their leaders to start acting, because they're convinced that 1) they're not capable of acting 2)anyone who could rise in the ranks must have the intelligence and will necessary to lead, and even the selfish ones can't ignore this, right? So they MUST start actually caring, right? They wouldn't leave their dedicated base out to dry, they're leaders! Leaders have to consider the interests of their followers, right?
What I wish I could get fellow #WhitePeople to understand, is that being against racism does not prevent you from doing a racism any more than being against falling will prevent you from tripping. I think a common argument happens when you try to point out to a white person that they're doing a racism, and they assume you're insulting them by calling them a racist. If I tell you you're doing a racism, it's because I believe you care about not doing racism.
#Today I am sore for going skating for the first time in a year, second time in 10yrs, yesterday. Only fell once, but it hurt a lot more than I remember. But the little adores this new pastime now that they've had some lessons and don't need help anymore. But now I have to go to work aching. Luckily it's a short shift and I can medicate and sleep this afternoon. This'll probably be good in the long-term, but for now, #ouch (the refrain of DOMS)
@Mrfunkedude they have no armour that fits her? Like, the adults were geared up before they left Kamino, she was a last minute addition to the crew. Armour that size would have to be specially made. Idk if the shopkeeper they end up working for would have the inclination to provide custom gear
@Caddi@Mrfunkedude it's a symptom of executive dysfunction. Which can be caused by anything from ADHD to fatigue. This vid was legit transformative to how I dealt with mine. Might be worth a watch. https://youtu.be/Uo08uS904Rg
@Mrfunkedude Tired, but good. We're restricting our cat's food (his weight is gonna kill his joints) so he's decided to restrict our sleep in return.... It's a war of attrition at this point.
@Mrfunkedude seeing families out playing in the snow and making snowmen at 10pm on a Saturday night because the snow is going to be a slushy mess in the daylight
@Mrfunkedude maybe they need a more fulfilling approach? Like, instead of being about policing the non-legal aspects of the neighborhood (which incentivses pecking down the pecking order), they should pick a mission statement to guide decision making in a way that maximally benefits/stabilizes the neighborhood during 'these unprecedented times' like community garden initiatives or solar panel installations for grid independent power backup?
@Mrfunkedude Took some mental health days this past week, so I have enough spoons to take my little swimming at the big facility that's a bit further away but has water slides!
@Mrfunkedude holding my family together when my partner relapsed after having essential medical treatment denied because he dared (on my urging) to be honest with the Dr about his past.... I will never get over how disgusting our society's treatment of self-medication is. I had front row seats to see up close how most of the societal problems we blame on addiction would be entirely avoidable if it weren't for the moralistic stigma most people attach to it.
