I left my #union job a few weeks ago. More or less good work, just not a good fit for me.

Here's the kicker though: I'll still be insured through them for MONTHS because of money left in my health and wellness account. This is a stark contrast to leaving a job and having to pay huge shakedown prices for something like COBRA coverage.

The moral of the story is #ORGANIZE, my fellow workers. #DirectAction gets the goods that begging capitalists NEVER WILL.

If you mean well, if you want to see positive change, the police aren't your friends either.

We need more people to understand this, faster. We won't slow down or stop the body count and the prisons filling up with protesters and activists until you do.

I want to open by saying I'm not here to pick fights. I welcome conversation, advice, aid, partnership, etc with anyone who is taking the increasing rise of fascism seriously.

That said, some folks and I were having a discussion about defense of certain people and events. And we touched on one of my biggest gripes about "liberal" folks: a refusal to address reality AS IT IS (material conditions) rather than AS THEY WANT IT to be (wishful thinking/internalized propaganda).

The specific that brought this up was liberals organizing security against, say, the proud boys.

It has been my experience 100% of the time that they look to the police to lead this role. But a poll came out saying that 70% of police support donald trump. And because we know police are among the most dishonest people around, my guess is that that number is actually 10-30% higher than the poll reflects.

So these organizers are looking to protect people from the proud boys..... by calling the proud boys with badges.

It doesn't make sense. I certainly don't see it keeping marginalized people safer.

#Leif facing charges after defending themself from assault in Wadsworth, OH is the perfect example. And just (one of) the more recent one(s). Look at the BLM movement, #copcity, the history of the labor struggle... the police aren't our friends.

I saw that and I am very white bread but I was still shocked and don't know what to think. I've been trying to follow more BIPOC and LGBTQ+ people since I got on fedi earlier this year but I unfollowed him after that exchange.

@Radical_EgoCom I support being protective of your time and wellbeing. I generally try to determine how earnest one is before getting too deep into conversation. I spend more time nudging people than debating them, I think most of your posts are good nudges.

I always tell folks that if they aren't finding new music to like, it's most likely a "them" problem. Internet search seems to be suffering enshittification but there are so many people out there making so much different music, you have to be refusing to look to not find it.

1 case for illustration: I found an Australian band I the 2010's called Hellbringer that sounds like pre-1986 Slayer. You gotta seek of you want to find.

I don't believe this for a second. I'll take my stalker as an example:

I approached the police to get documentation and a warning delivered, because I was looking to avoid violence. I got laughed at. Now, AT THE BARE MINIMUM, were there no police and no better system in place, I could have used the threat of violence from myself as a deterrent. I couldn't even do that because that would have been framed against me by my ex.

@AnarchoNinaWrites In fact, the more intelligent ones probably don't want to work under Trump. Too ostentatious, draws too much attention to their projects.

A plumber was listening to one of those lame, syndicated morning shows early on today, and the main hist brought up some recent "miracle" that had to do with magically refilling communion wafers. I observed that the miracles never include priests being stopped from pedophilia and we started talking.

He said he dislikes christian hypocrisy, and pointed out that their god was supposed to have created LGBTQ+ people.

So he asked, how can these religious folks hate their own god's creation?

I was pleasantly surprised, especially given the very stereotypical look of the guy.

I wanted to say first and foremost, we are NOT a militia.

With that out of the way, we are VERY interested in working with the LGBTQ+ community to help interested folks gain access to firearms and training in their proper use. I encourage everyone at this time to do so, and to help friends and loved ones do so as well.
