I want to open by saying I'm not here to pick fights. I welcome conversation, advice, aid, partnership, etc with anyone who is taking the increasing rise of fascism seriously.
That said, some folks and I were having a discussion about defense of certain people and events. And we touched on one of my biggest gripes about "liberal" folks: a refusal to address reality AS IT IS (material conditions) rather than AS THEY WANT IT to be (wishful thinking/internalized propaganda).

So these organizers are looking to protect people from the proud boys..... by calling the proud boys with badges.
It doesn't make sense. I certainly don't see it keeping marginalized people safer.
#Leif facing charges after defending themself from assault in Wadsworth, OH is the perfect example. And just (one of) the more recent one(s). Look at the BLM movement, #copcity, the history of the labor struggle... the police aren't our friends.

The specific that brought this up was liberals organizing security against, say, the proud boys.
It has been my experience 100% of the time that they look to the police to lead this role. But a poll came out saying that 70% of police support donald trump. And because we know police are among the most dishonest people around, my guess is that that number is actually 10-30% higher than the poll reflects.

If you mean well, if you want to see positive change, the police aren't your friends either.
We need more people to understand this, faster. We won't slow down or stop the body count and the prisons filling up with protesters and activists until you do.
