@killyourfm sure, software is the biggest difference between the experience of computing then and the experience of doing it now. i guess i didn't figure the hardware itself was the main source of your feeling of nostalgia. i do love a CRT though.

@feld @BinroHeretic @fcktheworld587 @SrRochardBunson holy cow, thank you for saying this. how to raise the question "hey, can we stop doing this thing? i don't feel like doing this thing anymore" among people who seem unable to perceive at all that A) drinking too much is a thing they do, B) it is possible not to want to do it, or C) it is possible to stop it. Is it like this everywhere or does the midwest / rust belt have an invisibility spell cast on alcoholism?

@inthehands @molly0xfff @anildash Stands to reason that the more you work a grift that incentivizes praising stochastic parrots, and sounding like a stochastic parrot, and minimizing the difference between real humans and stochastic parrots, the more you resemble/become one.
