@jeffcliff@NEETzsche@Godcast >since you have to pay to get the real deal thankfully many of their resources are now publicised and free to peruse. iirc there's still some things lost to time but also werent they just drafts or superceded by later texts?
>that something is usually ridiculous. i'll use the "dead jew" argument for this. jesus christ was a martyr and a lot of modern christfags incorrectly worship jesus as "the Lord" which is a dangerous belief to have. christianity itself shouldn't preach this, but of course people love to mince words and manipulate the masses. this seems like an issue with execution rather than underlying belief systems
@jeffcliff@Godcast as an aside since @NEETzsche mentioned lutheranism, i distrust specifically that branch of christianity because i saw firsthand what it does to people. willing to be proven wrong about it but meh, not getting my hopes up, and your claim about it being heresy sounds not far from the truth anyway, from what little i read and from your sentiments about it. they have this obsolete view that the bible is the end-all-be-all for religious doctrine, lol, talk about lack of future-proofing a religious sect
@NEETzsche@Godcast@jeffcliff definitely. i only try to read about what scientology itself claims, and what they're known to do in practice. like, i dont think anyones gonna argue that most of it was one guy saying "believe me and pay for all these resources so i can help save you from this earth", thats fairly undisputed fact. i couldnt care less about what expats have to say about it, but i do sympathise with their experiences nonetheless
@jeffcliff@NEETzsche@Godcast the problem with scientology seems to be the fact that it pivots around one man's ego, ive seen some of their underlying spiritual beliefs and those alone make sense, but of course anyone can include that kind of shit in their cult
@Moon@Zerglingman@jeff ohh yeah i have html formatting outright disabled on mumble.volatile.bz cus i dont trust anyone to do that right, and i already use other shit for text chat and image uploads
i like the mumble voice protocol itself, if anything i'd think to have better integration with other already-existing chat platforms so we all arent bitching about another gui program taking up space. dunno the best approach to that though
@Zerglingman@jeff@Moon eh the concept of channels is sound, especially since mumble's ACLs couple tightly with that model, but the good thing is that we can at least repurpose murmurd and create a new frontend that does something more sane, if we want to be absolutely lazy about it
@Moon@Zerglingman@jeff in what ways? i only notice weird bugs with my tiling wm but for the most part it seems to work fine. and federated voip seems like diminishing returns; you can really only be on one server/channel at a time so the idea of separate servers makes sense here
