It seems like there’s now more electric bikes on the streets than regular bicycles.

@koen_hufkens @pluralistic i used to have an electric bike for which the only way to turn on the builtin lights was via an app. I got rid of that bike.

Just as the border wall and other border security measures are largely Security Theater, the coming "mass deportations" will be mostly a variant of that, call it Anti-Immigrant Theater. There's no way (ask any expert) logistically or economically it could ever work to really deport 20 million people, but the fascists will make a big show of looking like they're trying it, with very scary video of raids and detentions and loading people onto buses, etc etc. A lot of people will suffer and it will be a human rights atrocity but it won't really be what they are promising. Just like most election promises.

Yesterday my wife was on the way to taking our daughter to school via our electric cargo bike, as usual, and a classmate's father taking the classmate to school in a car pulled up beside them and offered to take our kid the rest of the way. As if the only reason we'd be biking is because of economic necessity. My wife replied "No thanks, we LIKE biking"... Now I'm wondering if maybe I should make a flag or sign for the bike that says "we're not poor, we just like bikes"... or "we just hate cars"? Or "we just believe in climate change and live by our beliefs"? #climatechange #bikes #bicycles #carsRuinCities
