Dozens of Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday called on the Israeli government to resume the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

In a letter to Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Herzog, the group wrote:“As strong supporters of the U.S.-Israel relationship, we write to express our opposition to the current Israeli government policy of blocking all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza.”

Israeli army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and outgoing Shin Bet head Ronen Bar gave final tactical approval on 6 May for plans to significantly expand operations in the Gaza Strip.

The UN warned on 23 April that food supplies in Gaza are “dangerously low,” as Israel continues to besiege the strip and prevent the entry of humanitarian aid.

An investigation has found that an Israeli picture of an alleged Hamas tunnel in the Philadelphi Corridor which separates Gaza and Egypt was fake and used to prevent a ceasefire deal.

KAN reported on Wednesday that the claimed Hamas tunnel was in fact "a canal covered in dirt".

The picture was initially published by the Israeli military on the social media platform X on 4 August 2024. It claimed that the tunnel was three meters deep.

362 health workers and 26 civil defense staff have been arrested since 7 October 2023, including three doctors tortured to death in Israeli detention centers.
