    @HistoPol @DemocracyMattersALot I believe climate change is happening and can be incredibly destructive eventually but I’m not so certain about it being irreversible or greatly impactful in the near future anymore. Seems more like we are hearing worst case scenarios. I think of how every year there’s a horrible new virus that is going to explode and cause a pandemic. Eventually 1 did but usually they kill/infect just a small number. This is every year! Or the deadliness of 2nd hand smoke. Same

    @HistoPol @DemocracyMattersALot
    I know this isn’t a popular opinion on here so before I say anything, I’m completely open to the idea I could be 100% wrong. My question is do you feel like the alarms about climate change are greatly exaggerated? I firmly believe it’s real and will cause changes eventually but weren’t “they” saying it was gonna be irreversible and devastating already? I feel like the people that keep believing predictions about the end of the world and are always wrong.

    @HistoPol @DemocracyMattersALot I could be way off but it just feels like we’ve been hearing how immediate the effects are gonna be catastrophic and how it’s irreversible at levels but we’ve passed all them and more. Maybe the major problems won’t be for 20-30 years but we can still correct it? Now the narrative is it’s reversible whenever there’s a change that we can make

    @thomasfuchs my meds were over $1000 a month and couple options that helped me are to look into getting the medication from other sources where he may be able to afford it. Go to Mexico or another country and stock up. Have him call the drug producer and ask them directly for help. One company offered me free medication if I made less that $50 or discounted for < $75k. Or you can learn about the dark web and see if you can order it from on there. Find a way to get it from other countries

    @thomasfuchs yeah shouldnt Peter Thiel be using his own money to help people instead? Fuck those fake libertarians. Those people are always full of shit the second they get in trouble.

    @lain @zleap 2 things. 1. If you would vote left but stay home, make someone else who was going to vote for the right also stay home. Same as if you both voted.
    2. It’s probably not sensible for a single voter. But the problem is it’s not just a single voter with that belief. It’s many individuals and the group makes it sensible if they share support. Like when employees at a company unionized. Individual workers had almost no power for influence. But now they can join others and create power

    @lain @zleap you can do whatever you want though. I understand your mentality and have been in similar places. I just know what motivates me. I want a say in what politics affect my future. I don’t want old people deciding my future. And if voting didn’t matter, my political opponents wouldn’t fight so hard to prevent me from doing it. There’s also a little guilt for not using it when others have had that right taken away and would do anything to get it back.

    @lain @zleap there actually are more localized elections where the winner is decided by 1-10 votes. And the problem with assuming your vote doesn’t matter is that if only 1 person skips. it probably doesn’t matter much. But there’s quite a few people who share that belief and now it can actually effect outcomes. Local elections have issues that directly affect you daily and with less voters, your vote actually has more power than fed elections. I want a say in my future though.

    @lain @zleap sometimes the only thing that motivates me to vote is the fact that people who are against everything I believe in are trying extremely hard to prevent me from voting. If they didn’t cheat and fight so dirty, I probably would’ve just stayed home,
