@MsMadLemon Happy Birthday, Maddi! 🥳🎂☕️ Hope you had an awesome one!
I can’t wait to show my nephew/second cousin your Vintage Story series the next time he visits! (That, and I’ve been thinking about playing the game for myself.) 😊
A bit early from me here in the Eastern US, but an early morning shift calls so I thought I’d go ahead and say it: Happy New Year! 🍾🥳🎉
2024 has been a quiet year for me on the blog and the socials, not to mention a rough one in general. I already have a set of goals for next year to help make it a better one, which I’ll take about in a future blog post.
Wishing you all here on the Fediverse a prosperous and hopeful 2025!
Also, I never shared this earlier this year, but I think @pluralistic noticed my review of Red Team Blues from 2023.
I read through the Bezzle over the summer—which I wholeheartedly recommend since it’s as good (if not better) than the first Marty Hench novel—and happened to notice a little section in the acknowledgments.
Either way, I’m honored and appreciate the shout-out! Looking forward to Picks and Shovels in the New Year! 🫡😊
@Mastodon Saw the e-mail when I got home today and got my order in! I think it will be worth the wait! 😃🦣
@MsMadLemon This sounds like what I discovered with my parents’ modern record player (a Crosley) when I tested a couple of vinyls I got from antique traders in Rhode Island. Even if it was fully switched to the built-in speakers, there was this tinny sound which also played the same track. It felt odd.
I’m thinking more and more that a refurbished deck is the way to go! I’ll keep you posted! 🫡😃
On a semi-related note and a question for the Fediverse: Where would I be able to find and purchase a tape player? (Reason being is pictured below.)
Doesn’t need to be cheap, but I’m want to find one that will ideally be sturdy. I also know of EBay, but any particular, trustworthy sellers you can point me to would also be appreciated!
CC: @MsMadLemon to thank you for the tape (and because I forgot to let you know that it made it to me safely)!
If you haven’t done so already—and because it’s Bandcamp Friday—do head over to @MsMadLemon’s page and check out her latest album (Subdued Light): https://msmadlemon.bandcamp.com/album/subdued-light
She’s also done a video talking about how the album came to be with a focus on loss, recovery, and determination: https://youtube.com/watch?v=p99nt2U-lBU&feature=shared
IMO: It’s another masterpiece from one of my favorite YouTubers! 🎶😊🎶
CT Voters, the door to early voting opens tomorrow! You all know what to do!
Let’s go, democracy! 🗳️🇺🇸

@MsMadLemon My condolences for your loss, Maddi. Stay strong and take all the time you need. 💙
With everything going on with Bandcamp and Songtradr, now’s a good time to take advantage of Bandcamp Friday while it’s still a thing (and hopefully, still is)! Here are some of the musicians and artists I enjoy that deserve your attention (and your wallet’s also)…
Banjo Guy Ollie (@BGOllie)—A personal favorite of mine and an Internet gem who specializes in acoustic and synth covers of video game soundtracks. He also does original compositions which are available to purchase on his second Bandcamp page.

Pocket Vinyl—A local indie band of two from Norwich, Connecticut; the husband and wife team of pianist Eric Stevenson and artist Elizabeth Jancewicz. While their studio albums have percussion backing with the help of friends and studio staff, the live concerts are just the two of them—Eric rocking it out with the piano keys and Elizabeth painting a picture then auctioning it after the show.

Ro Panuganti (@RoPanu93)—Prog metal artist who, like Ollie, does a combination of VG covers and original compositions. Personally, he is the man who got me hooked on prog metal and hard rock in general between Moon Rock (an album of Super Mario Odyssey covers in a collab w/Christian Richardson), Fallen Hero (Undertale), and Project Discover!

Madija (@MsMadLemon)—Artist, Photographer, computer geek, YouTuber, and composer who creates electronic music through a combination of trackers and synths. She’s another Internet gem who got me interested in the Commodore Amiga (and microcomputers in general) alongside Ollie through her YouTube videos and her albums. ⚡️💻👾🎹🎶
