I gather that's purely an instance of wordplay, and expect a fair amount of people missing that entirely because they're frustrated at the excesses either of wokeness or of other people being excessively frustrated at wokeness.

Searching around a little, I'd say it looks more like a typical deliberate smear move than an innocuous use of a literal phrase. Considering that it doesn't appear to be a genuine campaign slogan and it does appear to have the traits of similar ploys, I don't think it's more likely, no. You're certainly entitled to think it is, though.

That's a fair characterization at least of the *current* forms of AI we've seen, but it sounds like you're only considering AI in the role of an artist – that's far from "no place." The whole sentiment sounds a little to me like: "paintbrushes don't even emulate anything – they're inanimate objects that just sit there. They have no place in the arts."
