@misty I didn’t even think about this one! What a weird thing. I know YouTube shorts and Insta reels exist but it’s hard for me to think that everyone will just simply jump to that
There's still independent record stores! There's still independent bookstores! You can still go to these, check out all the great curation they probably do, and support them! Lots of independent movie theaters playing indie films you probably haven't heard of either!
Got rambling on bluesky about it so I might as well post it here to make it official.
Having become frustrated with companies like Piko buying the rights to lots of old games, hoarding them, and generally just kinda being assholes about it, my goal for 2025 is to do what these companies won't and buy the rights to a 20+ year old game and make it public domain. It may be a terrible Klik & Play game that someone made when they were 10, but it will happen.
Check your kids Halloween candy this year, I hear people are hiding copies of the 1995 point-and-click adventure The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery inside of candy bars
having an extremely normal one as I add albums from Humble Bundle purchases from 12 years ago to my plex library and getting annoyed at how the meta data is setup. What am I going to do? Complain to Doublefine about old amnesia fortnite mp3s?
Really liked The Wild Robot. Also I haven’t really been in movie theaters (have done a few drive-ins though) at all since pre-pandemic but if they’re basically empty on Monday nights then maybe I’ll go more often
Finally downloaded a RSS feed reader (using inoreader) to my phone after only using one on my desktop computer until now and it rules. It’s silly to be like “I can read articles on my phone. This is great!” but it is! I can just read what I want without missing anything because I didn’t check social media at the right time
@sqhistorian was there any leadup to this? I haven't heard anything but maybe they just wanted to drop it and not get shot down by Activision/Microsoft?
@sqhistorian it's incredible. I just played the intro and a couple of minutes and immediately started asking about what else she worked on in the Codename: Iceman discord so I could play that too. Stunning work
