I am once again broken by what I am learning today:
- By how badly Gaza’s major hospital was destroyed and patients left…many emaciated, burned and crushed.
- By the killing by Israel of aid workers at World Central Kitchen, which I’ve supported in its humanitarian effort in Gaza.
- By Israel’s bombing of Iran’s embassy in Syria to assassinate a military official.

How are these crimes allowed? Even Israelis are protesting. Would the U.S. stand by if ANY other country had bombed an embassy??

@MarkHoltom I thought the same in my anthropology class since so much of it is about interpretation and who is doing the interpreting.

@freemo You’re ignoring or not understanding the intentional longer range and broader plans beyond Nixon, in place before Nixon and intended to last well past his infamous presidency.

Feeling nostalgically angry this morning.

@futurebird I agree with most of this but we cannot get away from the violence exacted on those considered “weak,” including women and children, by those in power. And it can be anyone from police to the military, criminals, a local bully, a town leader, a teacher, armed or not, openly or hidden. We need some kind of system to protect those who are not safe from those who — from time immemorial and across cultures and countries — have sought to take and harm.

My Dad always said if you want to understand most of what happens in the world, follow the money. Why did GQ (a Condé Nast publication) take down an article critical of David Zaslav, who has fewer and fewer fans and supporters every day, even within his own company??
“The Newhouse family, which owns Condé Nast, has seats on the Warner Bros. Discovery board and a stake in the company.”

My parents were young CORE workers. Never forget the murder of 3 Civil Rights workers in Mississippi in 1964. The case drew national attention because 2 of the men were White. Due to 200 FBI searching for them, the bodies of other missing Black men were found. Never forget the murders were planned by a sheriff and Baptist minister in the KKK. So, now we’ve got police going to the wrong address and shooting innocent civilians, and white civilians shooting innocent black kids who ring the wrong doorbell. The persistence of hate narratives and shoot-first-ask-questions-later knee jerk reactions show how absolutely dangerous an #NRA fueled gun society is. Their answer: More Guns! Because “guns aren’t the problem. People are the problem.” My question: So why in God’s name would you give guns to the problem?
