You should be absolutely terrified right now at the prospect of this possibly going into law.
It's US democracy's endgame basically.

@feorlen Yup, I have been there more than once.
It took a week to fully migrate my stuff into a newer desktop six years ago.
Tonight's movie watch is very appropriate and it's also airing on TCM tonight if you want to check it out:
The Great Escape (1963)

Reminder that the orange dictator-in-chief have called soldiers "suckers" "losers" and "disgraceful".
Guess over half the nation that voted for the man didn't get the memo...
@ieure Related: they'll kill your Switch anytime they see fit:
Once upon a time, there was a oh so brief period where most of the world actually cared about humanity.
@jgordon I have the book and it's so relevant.

@CardboardRobot @lucky @jstatepost
"The case was settled out of court. The result of the settlement was that Columbia Pictures, which had financed and was distributing Dr. Strangelove, also bought Fail Safe, which had been an independently financed production. Kubrick insisted that the studio release his movie first."
@CardboardRobot @lucky @jstatepost
There's more to the story:
"Fail Safe and Dr. Strangelove were both produced in the period after the Cuban Missile Crisis, when people became more sensitive to the threat of nuclear war. Fail Safe so closely resembled Peter George's novel Red Alert, on which Dr. Strangelove was based, that Dr. Strangelove screenwriter/director Stanley Kubrick and George filed a copyright infringement lawsuit."
Sad that #Glitch is shutting down although the writing was on the wall since they got brought. :(

@lucky @jstatepost Also do watch Fail Safe which is a great companion double feature. Released at the same year, weeks apart even.
Some examples that people in the thread haven't mentioned yet so I will:
Breathless (1960)
The Elephant Man (1980)
Some Like it Hot (1959)
Mildred Pierce (1945)
A Face in the Crowd (1957)
Seven Samurai (1954)
@jcrabapple @APBBlue Self-hosting is the only way to go these days if you want an alternative. Wallabag is a good one.
Sad to see #Mozilla shut down #Pocket as it should never have sold off in the first place.

Self-hosting your read laters and bookmarks such as #Wallabag are the way to go now.
If you have a bank account, prepare for it to become a second class citizen in favor of crypto.
BTW, these Dems need to be primaried and voted out by gifting the industry.

@joelpomales @lauren Someone's going to die even.
Like I said yesterday, the death of the web is upon us...
@AAKL Not to mention that the inevitable passing of KOSA and Section 230 repeal (hope I'm wrong on those) is going to hurt those efforts.
@AAKL In the current political climate, will it be even be a open web to rebuild from?
Looks very bleak. :(
The end of the open web is truly upon us now.
Thanks Gahoogle!
