@joeld @jesse @evan You can have your instance wherever, and have @<user>@<name>.<tld> point there. For wherever, I'd go with something like fedi or social. Definitely not Mastodon (because if you ever change server software, you can't use Mastodon as the hostname due to its trademark), and not any other software name, either.

Hrm. Out of a whim, took another look at #Alacritty, and it appears to be working fine. I remember it wasn't doing something well enough out of the box last time I tried it. But now it does.

So maybe I'll switch to it? I'm using my own little, VTE-based terminal emulator at the moment, and it does everything I want and need. It doesn't need much maintenance - a recompile every once in a while -, but the less custom stuff I have to maintain, the better. So that tips the scale towards Alacritty.

Maybe I'll switch to it for a week, and see how it fares.

Not that I use a terminal emulator much. It's almost exclusively used for my music player, and for ssh sessions. For most terminal-related things, I just stay in #Emacs and use eshell.

I just stumbled across mu4e-dashboard, and I want to build something similar for my notmuch setup.

@emacsen @aral @t0k @ArneBab @humanetech Not an option unless the project in question requires copyright assignment, or can otherwise ensure you remain the sole copyright owner for the duration of the custom license, or the license is for one particular version, and does not cover future version, updates, etc.

That's a whole lot of legal hurdles for likely not a lot of money.
