#Biden I went this afternoon to visit my 100 year old neighbor. She usually does not watch the news, nor is she political. She surpised me by saying she watched the debate. Her niece had called her. Her assessment was the same as mine and just about anyone not in denial.

She said it was horrible. She had not seen the interview with Stephanopolus. But she did go on to talk about Roosevelt who was in a wheelchair. She said he was a great speaker and reasuring as President and never was their a question about his cognitive function. If Biden was just stiff and prone to shuffling she said it would be no big deal. But what she saw was alarming.

Then her niece (a different one) came in and she said the same thing. The people who are paying attention are not impressed with fighting Joe. Or historic Joe. I live in a solid blue county in California. When you have lost here you are in trouble. We are in trouble.

@kingrat okay---let him be evaluated by 3 INDEPENDENT neurologists not a WH physician. Let him tal a cognitive test. What does he have to lose?

We see from Trump's physician that the pressure to please the Pres. is high. And you believe there's been no change in his gait. I may be old but I can still see.

What I need to be able to support #Biden (just to be clear I will vote blue no matter what)

1) A full physical and cognitive evaluation, released to public

2) A reasonable explanation for his steep physical decline, including stiffnees, shuffling gait. If it isn' Parkinson's what is it?

3) Stop with the lies. I don't need another Feinstein propped up in a wheel chair with assurances s/he is fine.

If it is PD or something similar these neurological disorders sre serious and this information was with held. They don't end well and cognitive decline is part of the equation. Some cases have a slow, long trajectory. This one seems rather rapid, like my father. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Rhe White House and Biden are in denial. It's bad enough Trump had multiple psychological impairments...

@Extra_Special_Carbon @HistoPol @randy He probably can't stay in without significant legal challenges to his competency. Guess what this is WAR, as far as Trump is concerend. They have bought the court, judges---no matter who is running they will pull out all the stops. I will take a competent strong prosecutor any day over a frail old man who won't face realty. This ia going to be a blood bath no matter what. As Democrats we bring marhmallows and tidly winks while the Repyblucans are assembling armies. I would rather fight with the strongest candidate then lead with a frail man who won't even accept that he is. I get your argument and its not a bad one but I just disagree. Joe's strength is in the past. We need someone whose strength is in the future.

@Extra_Special_Carbon @HistoPol @randy if we don't mount a serious forcefully oposition, Trump WILL win. My 100 uear old neighbor is more firceful than Joe. Both in vouce and deed. This is not a media created crisis it is an extisential one created by a failure to face reality.

@HistoPol @hu_logic @randy i hate to agree with me. We owe Joe an eternal debt of gratitude. But our debt is not greater than the risk to the republic, the #democracy. The only blame is on the persons closest to Joe encouraging him to fight. He is not going to improve. This just goes poorly for all.

@randy @HistoPol @hu_logic Not at all. Harris takes over the campaign. Joe stays in office until January. We win with an energized party. I'll put Kamala up against Trump any day of the week. Right now its hard to attack Trumps mental decline and lies foe obvious reasons. It is DEFEATIST to say the only way we can win is beating the half-dead horse across the finish line. Excuses or his own lies won't cut it when asked if he is more frail and his answer is no.

@hu_logic @HistoPol @randy no I am mot being played. Just talked to a nurse friend. She suggested he has Parkinsons or something akin to it. My Dad had Parkinsons and it does make sense. The stiff gait, shuffling, mask face, mental acuity decline. My Dad had no shaking, ever. Even though I believe Joe is tethered to reality and Trump is not---appearances mean alot. Joe looks old and frail. He speaks like he added 20 years to his life in the past year. I don't need politicos or media pundits to tell me what I can see with my own eyes.

@GottaLaff i see the argument and you may be right. HOWEVER, one thing that is missing is enthusiasm and interest especially amomg young voters--perhaps the safe bet in this time frame is not so safe. This campaign even wutj yesterdays vigorous and well orchestrated campaiging is on life support.

@GottaLaff it isn't about the debate. The debate was a reality check. It was sad. It doesn't mean Joe is done for. It doesn't mean he can't win. I am looking at it from what the Democracy needs. When he was elected people knew he was a goid man. And he was a steady hand at the tiller. He is still a good man---but the hand remaining steady at the tiller for 4 more years---that is highly debateable.

Tried and true has become tired and true. I was upset that Ruth Bader Ginsberg didn't step aside. I wasn't wrong there. It looks like democrats are closing ranks, but I am not sure that is the right choice for the country. Under no circumstane is Trump the right choice. He should be in prison.
