On desktop, I use #DuckDuckGo almost exclusively. However, on mobile, it's only my secondary search engine despite being set at the default in #Firefox. Part of this was down to the fact that the #GoogleSearch app loaded quicker than Firefox. Part was down to the fact I like the rich results, especially when searching for music related stuff. Lastly it was down to the fact I had #Google set as my #Niagara button on #NiagaraLauncher. Today I switched it open a new private tab in Firefox.

While I'm trying to let the #Thunderbird team cook and not rush them along with #ThunderbirdForAndroid, I keep trying to read up on what's happening with #ThunderbirdSync support to no avail. Is it still being worked on?

One thing that I'm looking forward to seeing on the #fediverse is #cooperatives. Whereby a group comes together and pools resources to finance things like hosting and domain names and upkeep. Security is a massive thing and it would lead to a massive explosion in smaller, yet stable instances and perhaps we'd finally see the peertube explosion we all want to see. It's an idea!

The way certain people defend #Eminem is super weird to me. I'm flabbergasted when people attempt to speak of his relevance in music. Does that take away from his technical ability? No. But who has Eminem songs on #HipHop playlists? His inability to make music that fits with anything is where he falls down.

It's been two months since I got my #RaspberryPi and I won't lie, everything is still so exciting. I get so happy when I do stupid little things like upgrade my #Zigbee dongle without everything breaking. Honestly, #SelfHosting is a beautiful world. Though it's all down to how kind and helpful everyone is. I'm super grateful for the tremendous communities behind #HomeAssistant, #Docker, #JellyFin, #Navidrome, #Immich and obviously #Mastodon and #Lemmy.

@GreenSkyOverMe up until now, one or two wrong letters have been accepted. This being so unforgiving isn't fun. It's not even useful. It's just frustrating. Also as a long-term user of Duolingo, I would like to see the timer paused and explanations given about such things. I have no idea what the difference between welcher and welche are, nor unserem and unseren, ihrem and ihren. Also, why is a toothbrush female? It's wrong to punish people for small mistakes and not give time to research.

Just a reminder that #duolingo is a piece of shit sometimes and makes you want to quit because this type of arse doesn't motivate anyone.

Did someone let off an #EMP over #London, because why the fuck does all technology suck today? The Internet has been crazy slow and intermittent.

This morning an interesting conversation came up regarding referee abuse and I clumsily tried to say that we should gather data in order to analyse what's happening and why. It's hard to articulate yourself in 270 characters. But I want the data so we can tackle it. I think we need to figure out if there's actually more abuse or if we're more sensitive? What type of abuse? When? Are referees better or worse? Etc. Abuse is never justified though and abusers should always be punished. #MastodonFC

That said, data driven analysis is important. As someone that is vehemently anti domestic abuse, in all its forms, I'm cognizant of the fact that around holidays abuse spikes as well as around pub and shop closing time. I'm never suggesting we have no holidays or that we never close shops or even ban alcohol, but being able to highlight these correlations helps us with prevention and assistance. Which has helped with reduction. Please don't think I'm comparing the two.
