For 21 years I've ran an informative #website on #overfishing.

As an "independent source" it was used by politicians, students, and many everyday people alike.

It was used for #publications & #documentaries, and triggered some inquires where I assisted in shaping national & international political statements. It's been fun & fulfilling 🙂

In today's siloed internet its usefulness is gone. No more days with 5.000 unique visitors & multiple email inquires.

Overfishing.org contained both an introduction to the issue of #overfishing, and #teaching resources. See attached some evergreens (low resolution, DM me for high res).

There's the "what, why, how" #infographic, #satellite imagery of #BottomTrawling in the Dutch #Waddensea #environment, and a poster with #trawling all around the world.

As I'm #sad to see the website go I've renewed the #domain for one more year and am happy to "donate" it to a good cause. Any interest: DM me.

WHERE DOES THE FRICKING WASHING POWDER GO?

For forever I have just kinda yeeted it half-and-half over tray 1 & 2. At times lazily experimenting by putting it all in one tray, then the other. At other times I forgot the powder in the first place, thereby being an environmental hero with slightly less clean clothes.

Honestly. I don't see much, or any, difference in whatever method.

Please share your laundry wisdom.

Oh ffs. In 2026 alone dozens of journalists have been killed, murdered, by Israel, Russia and the USA. The White House has at the best of times been silent on this, and at other times actively argued the murdered journalists were at fault.

The reporters / journalists reporting on "the white house" barely questioned this.

And now you're the victim? For an event where in the end nothing happened, and with anything extremely unlikely to happen in the first place? Fuck off.

For some god-awfully dumb sycophantic reason both Danish and Dutch news today report on the "extremely high gas prizes in the USA".

Just for context. Petrol in the USA is currently just a bit over one euro per liter.

Hej people. Have you heard of #Linux?🐧 So we're getting a new old laptop & consider switching from win10.

What distribution etc. would you recommend to people -not complete idiots- who enjoy using it, not making it.

What we do / like / want:

- Browser (just firefox?)
- Freecad / Audacity just work?
- Word / spreadsheet: recommendations?
- Photoshop 5.5 (yes) replacement?
- Easy local network access / file browsing / basic photo management
- Vocaster Two software?

My ideal is a modern winXP..

Three years ago I bought @juliette an electric kettle for her birthday (because romance is not dead).

Looking for a stainless tank, hidden heating element, and temperature settings, I found the Krups KE07. Bit expensive, but it'll last decades. Right? Button 1 broke after a year. Button 2 today..

#LOTR fans are THE WORST*. What makes one read a boost from a person they don't follow, think "this is wrong" and then feel like it'll help anyone by direct messaging them a correction?!

Anyway. If you read this, you're as wrong as the other persons. Here's why.

Multiple colleagues had overheard. As one can expect from people who have been working together for, in some cases, two or three decades it became a thing of joy for all. It led to all-workshop-staff emails like:

"HAS ANYONE SEEN THE GAY INBUS #20?"

"I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW SET OF VDE SCREWDRIVERS. ANY RECOMMENDATION FOR A GOOD GAY VERSION?"

The one gay technician in this workshop made a point of buying a non-colorful set for "more manly work".

Chatting about tools with @mk I was reminded of a curious interaction with a colleague, a technician.

He complained about his fading eyesight, and having issues identifying tools. So I suggested color coded hex tools, already used by others in the shop.

"I WILL NOT USE GAY TOOLS!" [and walked off angrily]

It really threw me off how a well-educated, soft-spoken and otherwise likeable person turned into a demented hermit crab when confronted with small bits of colorful metal.
