@untrusem@bookwar I found a cool functionality in discourse forum platform: they have a chat, which has a flow from chat messages to forum threads. You just select a conversation and turn it into thread with automatic links back to the chat.
Also, I found they have ActivityPub plugin and possibility to interact with the platform by email. So it potentially can bring all sub-communities in one place.
Today I realized that I'm afraid of RDE growing into something bigger. Can people stop contributing to and talking about the project, please? I feel anxious 🤫
A few months ago I was looking for a book about compiler construction, but for languages with thin syntax like lisp (so there a very little emphasis on grammars and parsing).
Today is my birthday. I did my morning routine, merged a couple patches, wrote a few emails, baked cookies 🍪 and now I guess is time to get some fun! :partyparrot:
- New features (distrobox, podman, prolog, sourcehut, android ...) - Updates for old ones (zsh, sway, mail, emacs, org-agenda ...) - cloud-init implementation for Guix - Transitive package management for Elixir - and more.
RDE is a Lispy Emacs+Guix+Linux+Wayland distribution for development, research, and daily computing needs.
@AngryAnt@khronos@codemonkeymike AFAIR, Guix where never "switiching langugage" it was written from the beginning in Guile Scheme. However, the build daemon is a fork of nix build daemon indeed. There is a project for writing bug-for-bug compatible build daemon in Guile, but it's very much WIP.
One of the things with mailing list driven workflow (in Guix and RDE) bothering me is that I can't review and merge patches without downloading emails, applying patches locally, signing them and pushing them to repo.
However, for most version bumps and other trivial changes it must be much more convinient, just one button click away. If it was so, it would be much less stale and forgotten patches I guess.
