@tim All genocides are heads held high. I learned that from the Cambodian genocide... so many pictures of children in the death camps. No us and them, just arbitrary purity and arbitrary death.

With the US election Israel gets to go from genocide in of the Palestinians to slightly faster genocide of the Palestinians.

@Aphrodite i don't think so, i know some of the peeps, some really well, and i really don't think that's where they're going. i think this happens if you don't actively work against it. a fact i tried to tell them quite a long time ago.

@xdydx @jorgecandeias there's people there that have no interface with nazi twitter. it's just a platform. i daresay it's the majority of people. hell, more people are their for BTS than politics.

guys i went back to bluesky to give it another try and they are not ok over there. i'm going to try to stick it out for a little while but holy shit do we need to study toxicity on social media.

@jorgecandeias i think that sphere will probably go to bluesky, which i am haltingly trying again, after getting run off early on because you know, the internet, and me.

@xerz But the future is never like the past. The shape of social media will change, and for the better, if history is any guide. I'd like to speed up that process, but more than anything that's an education task, and there's not enough people working on that right now. ☹️

@xerz it isn't merely infrastructure, and monetizing/exploiting infra is a terrible idea, but it's where we are now, and it's still better than not having infrastructure. social media is terrible, but is also saves lives and helps people every day. not because of the platforms, but because communties can colonize them.

@xerz the thing that drives me absolutely wild about this is that masto is full of people who don't realize that most of the world still don't know what a webpage is specifically. they're not making musk powerful, they're just one more thing he's exploiting, like the rest of the social media bosses. it's just rampant victim blaming.
