Sigh. But what can one expect from something called "OMG Ubuntu".
Probably the next FLOSS fanatic "news" site will report that all of Europe will ban not only Microsoft products but Adobe and Oracle ones, too.

Local train. Built in the DDR unless I am mistaken.
@davidaugust Pet peeve: I dislike calling directions of rotation "right" and "left". It doesn't mean anything, unless you assume it refers to a specific section of the rotating thing. But why should it? Why is it relevant to look at specifically the upper part of a rotating screw head and see whether it moves right or left?
The correct terms are clockwise and counter-clockwise.
"I can't even imagine the climax" Well, obviously that is "Ich Komme". #ESC
What is the typeface on this iconic album? Reminds me a bit of the MS33558 font used in American military aircraft cockpits. (But it isn’t that.)
Looking closer, I think the album cover might have been even better with the slightly simpler military font. The curve of the R leg looks a bit off in the otherwise very industrial and almost Gorton-like typeface.
@chris Oh, sendmail.cf. I remember those days. Thankfully I don't remember anything about the actual things one put into sendmail.cf files.
@derfopps It is just some random people literally drawing lines on a map, without any consideration of geography or existing railways. Calling it a "blueprint" is silly. Don't spread this crap.
@blenderbrit I don't live in either the UK or US, so I shouldn't really bother replying, but still: I don't think one can compare those two old geezers. Sanders seems like a decent democratic almost-socialist, Corbyn like a populist extremist. A Corbyn-led UK would probably not have helped Ukraine, for instance.
How do I get Edge to just show about:blank when I start it, no frigging "Express yourself by customising Microsoft Edge with themes", no "Welcome to Microsoft Edge", no extra shit at all? Why do I have to adjust this every time they slightly update it?
Kappale kauneinta Italiaa. Erityinen luontosuhde heilläkin.
@patrys @feld @EnfysBook Or in the actual OS kernel. I find it hilarious when people say that they don’t trust Google or Apple and you need to turn off this or that setting. Don’t they realise that everything they input on the phone passes through the OS kernel? Why do they trust that the kernel doesn’t do anything bad with the input?
Anybody recognise these flowers? Saw lots of them on my walk today. Did not really see other blossoming plants.
@kupfers I really am no plant expert, might be something very common;) Just thought these looked so cute.
Shiny new Hitachi Blues HTR 412 Intercity multiple unit train. In the new blue-white livery. Not taking it, but a regional train to Bari Centrale. The front of the train looks slightly intimidating.
Oh fuck. That was close. I hadn’t been checking the time often enough, and when I was buying groceries for the night train I noticed I had 11 minutes until departure. And I still had to pick up my bag from the hotel. Some 100 metres to the hotel, and 200 metres to the station. Luckily, the departure platform was close to the entrance. I made it one minute before departure. Now I just need to find a corkscrew. Taking the #IntercityNotte to Lecce. (Not using #Interrail for this leg.)
The night’s route. Bypassing Milan, via Bologna to the Adriatic coast and then down to Bari and Lecce.
The toothbrush of the amenity kit works fine as an eating utensil. (Forgot to take my spork.) Enjoying this insalata nocina and the fine Barbera d’Asti. Which fits perfectly as we just stopped in Asti. Local wine!
The salad is a bit too mayonnaisey for my taste. The cheese is OK.
I had no idea that data centre capacity is nowadays described in megwatts. And not exaflops or some such. In a serious newspaper like the FT even.
Reminds me of an old story I heard in the early 80s: A Soviet trade delegation visited the Technical Research Centre of Finland and desperately tried to sell them some Soviet computer. When, feigning interest, someone asked how powerful the machine they suggested was, the reply was in kilowatts.
What goes around comes around.
This cable-stayed pedestrian bridge over the railway is magnificent. Very much a design only possible using computers. Must look up technical details on it. Leads west from Lingotto, to an area with some sadly dilapidated buildings from the 2006 Olympic Games.
