So, Discourse needs to be able to follow remote groups?

I still don't quite understand the problem. In my view, broadcasting content is the primary function of a Group, and I don't like when random fedi posts appear in the "Latest" timeline: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/latest

@cheeaun The icon near the "Post" button, is it for choosing visibility?

@tadano If you're going to do this, keep in mind that import-posts doesn't import attachments. This will be added in the next version.

@phnt @ex @tadano Oh, nice. I just made a backup on my Pleroma instance and successfully imported it to Mitra.

@tadano I don't know whether Pleroma has this feature or not. If not, you can try to create an archive manually by crawling the outbox:

@ex @tadano Not yet, the new command is basically a rewrite of import-outbox.sh in Rust.
But now it's easier to support attachments. I can do that if somebody gives me outbox.json containing a post with attachments.

@djsumdog @ricci I think the fragmentation of fedi is often exaggerated.
Sure, if you look at poa.st and mastodon.art, they are two separate universes. But most instances are neither mass-blockers nor mass-blocked.

    Here's another nice website: https://burningtree.github.io/bsky-dominance/

I am happy that I don't need to waste my time anymore debunking the "decentralization" of Bluesky.

How decentralized are the deployments of the Fediverse (Mastodon, etc.) and the Atmosphere (Bluesky, etc.)? I'm starting a project to track this! https://arewedecentralizedyet.online/

@pernia @tadano Yes, but imported posts will be attributed to a different ActivityPub actor, so it is not a seamless migration.

    @tadano
Some fedi services (Mastodon, snac2, Pixelfed) allow you to download an archive with your posts. import-posts is for importing posts from those archives.

How do account reports federate? (Is there sample data?)
Mastodon does have the ability to file a report about an account and posts. These reports can also be transferred to the account’s own server. I saw on ActivityPub - Mastodon documentation that Flag is used for these reports. The activity itself is described here: Activity Vocabulary Question is only, how this is exactly implemented. Is there any sample data? Thanks!

The FEP-ef61: Portable Objects describes how to use DIDs with ActivityPub. Here's a slightly less technical introduction: https://codeberg.org/ap-next/ap-next/src/branch/main/nomadpub.md

It's not easy, though. Adding this feature to an existing project will require a lot of work, especially if you don't want to share signing keys with servers. This was discussed in #3100, Lemmy devs are not opposed to FEP-ef61, but they don't plan to work on it.

Also, I don't recommend copying solutions from ATProto, their did:plc and did:web are not really "decentralized".

@xwyqi Menu items below the separator are only visible to admins.

The first "Delete post" is a self-delete, it only appears if the post is authored by you. The second one is always present if you're an admin.

I don't like it either, but I haven't find a better solution yet.
