@ryanhoulihan@psychictides I don't think there should be an ethno/religious state. Although I am half Jewish, I honestly just started learning about it and reading different perspectives and I am trying to understand. It seems like you are more interested in calling me names than having a conversation so we can stop talking now. I am not pro or against a side here, I just was confused about the idea of it being a colonial story since I understood that my ancestors were indigenous to the region. Pro tip, of you want to change people's minds who are open to discussing and learning, don't call names.
@ryanhoulihan@psychictides that's fair. Nobody should be allowed to displace other people from their land with violence. But what if some of them weren't wealthy, & some were refugees hoping to find a place where they were allowed to practice their religion without being killed for it, returning to a place that they prayed to return to for generations because it was their homeland that they were driven off of with violence, and if some already lived there and never left... Do all get categorized in the same bucket? Is it because of the color of their skin? Jewish wealth that exists is in spite of extreme hardship, slavery, discrimination and tragedy. Not every light skin face is the same. I don't believe in taking from others or killing anyone, I just wonder if you have considered that there is complexity to the story. I also wish you a good night. May all children grow in a place where they can find safety.
@psychictides@ryanhoulihan while I am picking up some strong mockery in your response, I genuinely ask questions to be better able to understand conflicting viewpoints. The reading I have done generally points to this being a much more complex narrative. Here is one example of an article referencing the complexity. https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2017/8/29/brooks-no-stranger-homeland/. If you have an opposing set of evidence that says Jews were never a people belonging to the region, please post sources instead of clown pictures. I respect ideas outside of my own, and this narrative is one I am deeply trying to understand better.
@psychictides@ryanhoulihan are you saying Israelites are settlers/colonists? My understanding is that Jews are indigenous people of the land too, which doesn't make killing a lot of people right, but certainly isn't the same storyline of colonialism.
@Mrfunkedude in some places cvs keeps formula locked behind the counter which says so much. Both that it is frequently stolen and that we need better systems to get food to babies.
