There's that myth about how Israelis "turned the deserts green" which has been righteously dispelled (Palestinians have always farmed, Israelis tear up their olive trees). But it becomes even more ironic when looking at pictures of Palestine and reflecting on all of the time and energy that went into building all of these walls and fortresses everywhere. It's like anti-infrastructure that makes it harder to live and get around. They are making the country worse.
In case you were ever wondering what living in America is like, a buddy of mine who is couchsurfing just got his food stamps taken away by a social worker who very cheerfully informed him "you don't need the help because you don't have to pay rent anymore."
@windrunner@luckytran Yep, and if you work in anything adjacent to food service or healthcare that number is gonna shoot straight up from there.
When covid first started and all of these people were complaining about washing their hands so much I was just like. So y'all never worked in restaurants, or a clinic, or a homeless shelter or anything like that, huh?
I have voted consistently in every election for my entire life and from my perspective it hasn’t helped much.
To be blunt, the rowdy shit I have done felt way more effective because it WAS way more effective.
Vote if you want but please stop scolding people about it. I’ve been voting this whole time. Will you meet me halfway and revolt? Will you meet me halfway and do some illegal shit to get us all more freedom?
@urbanfoxe@_L1vY_ Anedcodtally/ironically, I used to watch a lot of gun youtube and I never remember getting shown vids about fixing cars or ads for car parts 🙄
"Come to the fediverse! Everyone can run their own server!" is starting to sound more and more like "everyone can grow their own food!" or "everyone can make their own clothing." Like. Some people can do these things. Not everyone has the knowledge, resources, and/or time.
@paul_ipv6@inthehands@ajsadauskas I made up a company and said I was a manager of it on LinkedIn and actually got job offers. Faking it til you make it really works with these fools.
No airline that was run by pilots would operate the 737 Max. They're fundamentally unsafe. There is a shortage of pilots due to covid but also bc some quit over this.
No factory that was run by engineers and mechanics would produce them. They're not designed and built right. People have quit Boeing over this.
Rich managers are pushing this and corrupt government bureaucrats are enabling them. 737 Max enshittification is a direct result of workers being removed from decisionmaking processes.
Like it's basically a systemic problem which people aren't detecting because it's systemic
The 737 maxes were grounded globally because like 350 people died
None of the underlying engineering flaws that led to this happening were ever addressed. They just slapped in a software solution that compensated the steering. Pilots hate them.
Most programmers I've told this to run screaming from the concept and I'm like. That is a totally rational response.
Last boost: I've been hearing people in the aviation industry and just plane fan types saying they wouldn't fly on a 737 Max for at least two years now. It's kind of distressing how long this danger has been known within the community of experts and enthuisasts without being communicated to a wider audience.
This is bigger than just a Boeing or Alaska Airlines problem, though they're at fault for sure. IMO this is due to corruption a the FAA level
IDK who needs to hear this but stainless steel is a relative term. It still rusts eventually, especially if it gets wet, triply so if it gets salty and wet. If you're making, say, a truck out of bare stainless steel, you should probably put some paint on there.
We were not painting trucks this whole time for purely aesthetic purposes. Sorry, "skipping the paint" does not qualify as "disrupting the auto industry."
That cybertruck costs like a million bucks and is UNPAINTED. We have a real life unpainted car salesman on our hands. I never thought I'd live to see the day when people would buy incomplete cars to finish them at home.
But it's not even cheap! And the customers don't even seem to know they're unfinished? What is going ON
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but being able to expand the Supreme Court to limit the power of activist judges is one of those “checks ‘n’ balances” you always hear about. It used to be larger than 9 people and it could be again if the Democrats were serious about winning.
