I cannot judge the effort Meta has to federate Threads. I only see that in general it takes organizations a "lot of time" from announcements of federation to effective launch. (Ghost, Tumblr)

Value: there of course different ways to measure it. Mine is currently:
- number of users
- lever for other organization to start federation as well

Do I see a risk of pseudo-decentralization? Yes, but my understanding of the fundamentals is too limited to come to a sound judgement.

A quote on the #fediverse from @LaurensHof which is important to me:

This means to me that the US or US companies will lead in the #fediverse as we Europeans concentrate on the meaning of fediverse instead of making it accessible as much to everybody.
I know there is a lot of cliché in my thinking and I am a bit too simplistic. Still I do not see a reason why the past should not repeat.
