Hey, #WeirdCarMastodon, did anyone catch that all too brief moment during the opening ceremonies where the flame bearer was caught in a delightful and equally improbable traffic jam of classic French cars??

I saw it live (from work, bite me) but I can't for the life of me find a video clip or even a snapshot anywhere.

Not sure if google fail or the long arm of the French intellectual property police?

Has anyone captured that somewhere, so we can analyse and discuss??

The Microsoft Surface Go is a pretty decent tablet, smaller than its big brother the Surface Pro. It has the expected built-in cameras, and the lid doubles as a keyboard.

It may also be due to your locale setting. During install it probably defaults to the American mm/dd/yy, then later if you change that to yyyy-mm-dd the dialog reflects your change?

Doom LAN parties were not for the faint of geek.

I recall Doom only supported Novell IPX protocol at the time (no IP), so you needed Novell 286 or 386, which itself required a dedicated server.

On the plus side, it wasn't fussy about the physical layer so ArcNet and Token Ring were acceptable!

Much later came IPX over IP.

I knew a guy in the 80s who would make collect calls from Canada to a payphone in France. When his girlfriend answered, she would say she accepted the charges, but the Canadian operator didnt know that there was no such mechanism in France so they would have long free talks at a time when international calls were expensive and neither Skype nor the Internet existed.
