@alex I'm assuming you're talking about Jungle Crows, although I think some parts of Japan has Carrion Crows too. Crows are exceptionally intelligent. They apparently are able to identify people and recognize when a person is generally nice to them vs when a person is generally mean to them, and they are able to communicate people's behaviors to other crows. They have been known to give their human friends gifts in the form of shiny objects (without promoting - corvids seem to find intrinsic value in shiny object), and may even group up to defend their human friends, or pester a non-friendly human.
I would argue though that a back yard breeder is much more likely to do a hip test than VWD. Also keep in mind the vet prices specifically on this are pretty cheap - most areas are going to see them as more expensive.
This is why breeding healthy dogs is not a good way to get rich. Although the profit difference between BYB and puppy mill is negligible. Imo the only difference between a back yard breeder and a puppy mill is basically are they hoarding? If yes, puppy mill. If no, BYB
Bringing it up and down like that several inches above the ground (which is sorta high for a kitten). I wouldn't call it shaking. But that action reinforces the scratching and clinging behavior as the cat is likely losing spatial awareness with this activity on how far he has to drop, and if he's safe (same idea of when a hamster bites, you do NOT lift the hamster off the ground, because now the hamster HAS to bite you to save itself from falling damage).
Then there is the act of what is basically reinforcing rough play - the rougher that cat is, the more the human seems to be engaging. The cat is learning that this is acceptable way to play, that this is how he eats an ice cream cone.
Doesn't mean the cat is going to turn to Satan after this, or even that it will act like this next time. Just means there is a chance of this cat acting similar will have a lower threshold the next time a hand comes towards it. If that makes any sense

Tapir>Playing FO3 as kid >At this age, I have mainly only consumed non-fiction animal content so what is normally cliché story telling was incredibly novel to me >IRL dad dead, so I get super attached to in-game dad >can't wait to get home from school to advance quest and get closer to talking to dad >Get to the story where in-game dad dies >tfw dad fucking dies all over again
@mangeurdenuage@anonicus chickens are fucking brutal. I remember working on chickens at a farm and after the exam, their cloaca would be prolapsed due to stress. And the other chickens would be chasing around and pecking at the prolapsed cloacae and eating chunks of it.
@ItsSkyDragonz The TL;DR - For vet tech appreciation week, I got some fast food from management along with a demotion and pay cut.
The coworker that was on-the-job trained to tech has taken my head tech role and my pay cut basically went to his raise. Said tech couldn't be licensed because their drug charges would need to be expunged. ..
I was not given a reason for the decision to promote the uneducated tech and demote the licensed one.
Remember, there is no loyalty in work. don't care if you work at a hospice for orphan children; your employers, your employees, your coworkers, they are not and never will be your friend. They aren't at work for you (or in this scenario the dying orphan children), they are at work for themselves.
All the feral horses they try to protect in California also eat all the vegetation that is supposed to help slow down fires. They rip up the water retaining plants up by the roots and leave the dry and dead ones. They refuse to do any kind of meaningful population control and these horses decimate the flora.
I am the animal professional. I'm the 'professional' naming these dog breeds. I do my absolute best, going off of my knowledge of genetics and what is common in this area.
From the dogs that have been DNA tested, I have accurately ID'd at least 1 dog breed in roughly 80% of them. That doesn't mean that breed made up most of the DNA. And when it came to guessing multiple breeds or the majority breed, I was woefully inaccurate.
I'm worried the breed labeling is creating preconceived notions about these dogs, and people are adopting these dogs with certain expectations and not looking at the individual dog
@PunishedD Unfortunately the public kinda reels at the term 'mutt'. I personally have no issue with it, but a lot of the population hates having a mutt because it's not special like a pomchon or a boxador is. People also think it's mean to call something a mutt, like it's a derogatory term.
There's actually been talks of calling mixes '(Country of origin) Shelter Dog'. So instead of mixed or mutt or mongrel, it would be American Shelter Dog. Basically works like how Domestic short/medium/long hair cat works. That would appease both loud minorities. However, I think it sounds gay as hell myself.
The Tapir is a curious creature with a prehensile snout found in Central and South America as well as Asia. Despite their odd looks, their closest relative is the rhino, and you will never be a real woman.
