Does anybody else make, what I like to call, phonetic typos?

As in, typos based on how the word sounds as opposed to how it's actually spelled. A prerequisite for this being a real phonetic typo is knowing how a word is spelled and still making that typo.

I make these regularly, and they look very odd because they don't look like regular typos.

They are also way more common when I write English, as opposed to languages with more phonetic spelling rules.

I'm of the opinion that #threads should not be engaged with in any way.

Not because I think it's a threat to the #fediverse, although it could potentially be.
Not because I think it will bring a huge amount of bad actors that will harass users on other instances, although that is definitely a risk.

My reason is simpler; #Facebook has done so much evil, society eroding shit, that I don't work with them on principle.

And Facebook knows that as well, which is why threads is instagram branded.

These corpo fanboys are just sad.

My biggest problem with #capitalism is that it forces everyone to make earning money their primary objective.

Not to provide valuable services for society.
Not to make sure that people don't suffer.
Not to preserve our environment.

All these things are just optional side effects to the main objective of making money, and will be easily discarded if doing the opposite turns out to be more lucrative.

@killyourfm I think it's because Fedora went all in on Wayland as early as possible, so they have more experience configuring it all properly.

@killyourfm @TrechNex Fedora is quite progressive compared to other non-rolling distros. They were the first mainstream distro on wayland, systemd, pipewire, and more. It's why I quite enjoy the distro, as it does seem to lead where desktop linux goes.

@killyourfm This works fine on Fedora's KDE spin running Wayland.

@killyourfm I'm thinking a bit, and I think what's happening is that maybe most of your apps run under xwayland in wayland and you have XWayland set to scale "by the system", as that'll look blurry.

After messing around with #LLM a bit, here's a few thoughts.

* Its best use is to take care of boilerplate
* It's super overhyped
* Calling it #AI is part of said hype
* The hype is going to put it in so many places that it doesn't belong, and this WILL end up hurting people and society
* Never, EVER, ask it for anything that you can't verify the accuracy of yourself
* I don't think this method will lead to true AI
* It's a copyright nightmare
* It is, nevertheless, a very cool technology

@KarlHeinzHasliP @aral I've actually been thinking about an anarchist model for tech, based on small communities and mutual aid, considering writing a blog post about it soonish.

@aral @KarlHeinzHasliP It is, but from what I've seen, your focus is on individuals, while I want to do a more small community focus.

Not that I dislike your work, far from it. :)

@aral @KarlHeinzHasliP Yeah I know what you mean, but I'm coming from a bit of a different angle. Not everyone can do all the tech stuff, just like not everyone can do any skilled profession. So, instead of every user trying to self host their tech stuff, the more technically inclined can do the tech stuff for their community, while other members take care of other needs. This is how you create small self sufficient communities where people take care of each other via mutual aid.
