@jnv As someone who turned off commenting on my blog I don't regret that move. I've had a lot of great email discussions as a result (even if I'm not that quick at ever returning emails).
I guess I wish more folks would blog, with RSS feeds available, in general.

How is this possible, much less acceptable?
While I agree with the ruling this is supposed to be the most revered court in the country. To "accidentally" release an opinion is just insane.

@jnv I get that. I left IG in 2015 or so and FB in 2016, both because of the toxicity.
Sometimes I wonder if this is “better" though. The amount of attacks I see people I otherwise see as good people towards each other for lack of ideological purity in their tech, as one example, is just insane. At least it's not family but it does get old after a while.

I think it's a big part of why I've been posting less and less over the months and why I regularly force my posts to expire.
No good dead on social media, especially the Fediverse, can go unpunished and no amount of personal joy is ever to be tolerated.

I've seen so many people I respect drop out of social media, even the Fediverse, altogether. One part of me finds that extreme but, more and more, I really do understand it.
The ideological bullshit, the gaslighting, the constant (and I really do mean constant) doom about literally everything, the list goes on and on.
I'm not privileged enough to be able to leave it behind completely and I'm not sure it would be the right move if I did but I do understand it.

It's been 2 months and we're still fighting our old bank to complete a transfer of some of our accounts. Every week they say they don't have the paperwork and every week my new banker comes with receipts.
This is why I'm very grateful we're switching.

@swanksalot I didn't know that history... thanks for sharing!
I guess I always assumed they were native to the area.

@swanksalot We lived in Austin before Florida so I get it. At least we had March there... that was pleasant :)

The weather here in #Chicago reminds me of what I hated in Florida. I will never take having 4 real seasons for granted again.
(and I can live with it here. the heat and humidity will just make our walks uncomfortable for a few weeks as opposed to 9-10 months of the year)

@grumpasaurus I did 1/2 grow up in Chicago in the 80s and I remember him as being crooked then. That it took until now, and that the sentence was so minimal, really is a testament to just how bad city politics is.

Many of you here probably already know this but this podcast on how #data from a person's apps can be used to incriminate them if they need an #abortion is worth sharing to the many folks we all know who don't understand or care about their #privacy. https://www.marketplace.org/shows/marketplace-tech/how-data-generated-by-everyday-apps-can-incriminate-abortion-seekers

Well, my record of just over a month without having to play iCloud Keychain games to get basic functions of my devices to work has come to an end. It was great while it lastest. *segh

If there is anything that will make me question your judgment it is telling the world that you use AI tools like ChatGPT for "fact checking.”

I think that I'm seeing a wave of anti-AI sentiment growing. News articles, social posts etc. Are you seeing this too?

@Geojoek If you're an Apple user, and already have a paid iCloud account, they'll host it for no additional cost. I moved my family to it about 2 years ago as it is just easier for them. Other than that I've been a big fan of mailbox.org for reliable email hosting. @Jetengineweasel
