@evan@_followback Looks like the bot doesn't want to follow me back. I show up in "Followers" tab on its webpage, but it displays a wrong handle domain - maybe it has troubles with split-domain instances?
@mjdxp@lkundrak Except when it doesn't. Try talking about mobile stuff, you'll get both "ackchyually Alpine isn't GNU" and "but Android is Linux!!1" jerks in your replies. Since Alpine is very much modeled like GNU, and Android is very much not, in my experience it's much clearer to default to "GNU/Linux" as a term to refer to the OS even if not strictly technically correct in all instances. I prefer to be communicative rather than pedantic 😜
@cwebber@dpk Courts operate not just on the license's letter, but also its spirit, so taking over FSF to publish a permissive GPLv4 wouldn't necessarily be as effective as it may seem at first glance - even if it would still cause plenty of chaos. In contrast, the spirit of this joke license is pretty much "an overly complex way to say it's MIT-0/0BSD" - that is, unless a court decides otherwise, judging from the whole context around a particular case and particular people involved ;)
Many years ago I spent some time playing with running a graphical interface from chrooted Debian userspace on a jailbroken 1st gen Kindle Paperwhite. I posted a video that showed it and called it "Debian on Kindle Paperwhite". Some tech media had then picked it up and reported on Debian running on Kindle.
I'm sorry, it's all my fault. All those people calling Halium devices "real Linux phones" are just my karma coming back 😭 #mobilelinux
@aeva You don't, it's meant to have some non-trivial latency (and half of it likely comes from the client anyway).
If you *really* need low latency I'd rather use something like Jamulus instead, but that's harder to tune in and scales poorly with number of clients (its sub-50ms latencies make it possible to jam with people online though, which is fun).
@dragonarchitect@joepie91 Sorry, but when you choose to spend your personal resources on contributing to the commons, you're free to do it on your own terms and to tell people who want to see it done differently to do it themselves. You don't owe anyone anything. The worst that could happen is that your project will suffer due to your choices, but so be it. Your poor designs and missing features don't need addressing unless you feel like it, and if others disagree they can fork indeed.
Does anyone happen to know whether the old data of #identica users that weren't migrated over when it switched from #StatusNet to #pumpio has been archived anywhere? I see a mention that there was a plan to upload it to @internetarchive, but can't find anything more than that. #fediverse#ostatus
It seems to have happened without much fanfare, but about a month ago @purism has released the Librem 5 hardware layouts under GPLv3 (as original PADS and converted KiCad projects), joining the schematics that were already available from the start.
POV: a few years ago you uploaded a bunch of games into Google Play that: - are fully Free Software - don't gather any user data - are fully local, no ads - are complete and finished - don't really need updating.
One of the games was removed because of "missing privacy policy". Others - I don't even know, they didn't bother to tell me 😜 Seems like the idea that some apps may simply respect the user and not exist to mine for data is unfathomable to Google.
