#DickVanDyke turns 100 today, and the fab American Masters has a new episode on him that debuted yesterday on PBS. The show was so good my 18yo, home from college for an Eagles 🦅 game, watched for 2 hours with us last night. Van Dyke is an amazing human being.

Notable convo: one 25yo was like “I’m not political” so I told him — in 30 seconds flat — why I was canvassing at 5pm after a full day of work: that the R agrees 💯 with 47’s actions, will DOGE #NewJersey, floated a 10% sales tax on everything incl food & clothes, wants to decimate public schools with vouchers. He didn’t say he outright supported #MikieSherrill (or that he would #vote), but I could see the wheels turning.

1/x Second day of canvassing a mega 75-house 😱 turf in my town in South Jersey, doing an hour a day after work. A significant number of people didn’t know that early in-person #voting was a thing in #NewJersey. It begins this Saturday, 10/25 and runs thru 11/2.

@mastodonmigration 💯 this. People on Mastodon want this content, but it is difficult to convince some of that and to see the forest for the trees, as the saying goes.

For example, I gave up trying to get the Sherrill campaign (NJ gubernatorial race) to have presence here, and am now asking them simply mirror the account here with BridgyFed which is stupid easy … like, literally follow the BridgyFed account on Bluesky. It is really frustrating.

Full disclosure: Cory Booker is my Senator. Was I thrilled with some of his votes, including the recent one for Kushner? Def not. But will I support him in his #NewJersey reelection campaign next year? Damn skippy.

Our electeds are not going to vote the way we want every time. That is just REALITY.

We have a 2-party system, and Dems are the party that represents democracy right now. It’s that simple.
