But yeah, instant implosion means immediate forced pressure of air inside for a brief moment - which would have ruptured ear drums, and yes probably 'squeezed' the brain membrane.

Such an event happens in 1 millisecond apparently. Stuff from eyeball to brain takes couple hundred milliseconds. and pain signals take a bit longer. It would have been a case of living, then instantly dead.
