I assume there isn't an international regulator for these kinds of expeditions. Never heard of anything so shoddy. Your car would be condemned if it was that bad.
@SusanLewis There seem to be numerous regulatory bodies around the world. Any one of which would have prevented this numbskull from perpetrating this calamitous farce.
So, of course, being a billionaire brain genius, he twisted himself in knots specifically to avoid their jurisdiction.
@stavvers Read somewhere that the people inside the submersible would not have any time to know it was an implosion. Such an event happens in 1 millisecond apparently. Stuff from eyeball to brain takes couple hundred milliseconds. and pain signals take a bit longer. It would have been a case of living, then instantly dead.
@goatsarah@stavvers Ugggh can't unsee that image! But yeah, instant implosion means immediate forced pressure of air inside for a brief moment - which would have ruptured ear drums, and yes probably 'squeezed' the brain membrane.
@goatsarah@stavvers@christopherd I'm glad there wouldn't have been time for them to experience any pain; very much one of those "you stop being biology and start being physics" kind of deaths
