how do they have so many users despite this partial defederation? also im curious what portion of chinese language mastodon usage runs through those instances

Btw I've met Suji in real life at UIUC, he's a real person and does good cosplay. Also I've seen an excellent E2E encryption demo from his Mask software, so I hope it's an avenue to contributing e2e on mastodon

@Sujiyan I think my top wish list is
- e2e dms
- an escape hatch option using a blockchain so I can flee from antagonistic instance host,
- client support for peeking beyond fediblock boundary
- some support for algo recommendations maybe experimented with at the instance level.
Most of these could be done with an overlay client w/o needing instances, instances def help

@Sujiyan I'll bite. Why are you acquiring mastodon instances, and what will you do with them?
