    The real risk to the NHS, the real risk of harm to patients is fifteen years of decline, loss of staff and training places.

    The real risk to the #NHS is #WesStreeting and #UKLabour not turning the tide.

    In 2010 the NHS was both best in the world and best value (half the cost of the US insurance system that benefits corporations and bankrupts patients).

    The Tories and this Labour government are knowingly destroying the jewel of UK public services.

    @Mastodon Please, please just let me turn off the boost/quote menu.

    I can't remember seeing more than a single quote toot so far and have never used (or wanted) it myself.

    That's it. Please fix this before I can't stand it any more.

    80% of the time the only option on that menu is boost. This is an awful #UX fail.

    Thanks for listening.

    @Mastodon
    Having sat with #QuotePosts for several days now, I'm even more unhappy with it.

    I never wanted QPs and have turned it off, but still have it offered to me every time I boost, and most of the time "boost" is the only item in the menu - 80% at a guess.

    I use two accounts daily, and dread the second site updating to this feature.

    It makes me less likely to boost and has ruined my experience on mastodon.social

    I hope we'll be able to disable in our UI rather than it be forced on us.

    @Mastodon WTF?

    Every boost is now two clicks!

    And by the way, the option I use most in the toot menu, "Edit" is off the bottom of my mobile screen.

    @Gargron How anyone can say this, watch #Meta behave in the poisonous way it always has, and not advocate blocking #Threads altogether mystifies me.

    I mean, if Twitter were federated would that also be ok?

    How vile do these corporations have to be before we stand up and say that's enough?

    @glynmoody it's on almost all of them, Tory and Labour ministers. Farage took the vanguard and rather than counter his dangerous bile they follow.

    @glynmoody ideally services shouldn't know where their users are. Figuring the numbers out should be the job of regulators anyway.

    @glynmoody It would be great better to tax based on climate impact of the type of energy production than target one unpopular use case.

    Lots of #crypto mining is done using renewables and can be argued to be driving development of renewables to some extent.

    If you tax the climate cost at source you catch all users, including AI data centres, and further drive renewable energy production.

    @glynmoody I wonder how Trump will take to someone making foreign policy on the hoof, who is not Trump, and has a bigger profile, more money and better claim to be a success than, er Trump.

    I wonder if Musk will actually make it to inauguration.

    @glynmoody
    #Zelensky is an amazingly canny operator and without him I can't see how #Ukraine would have got this far.

    His strategy is always to isolate #Putin as much as possible while trying his best not to alieniate his piss poor allies, whether Biden, EU or Trump.

    I am in awe at his powerful diplomacy while watching his countrymen die in unnecessarily large numbers because we (collectively) prevaricate and fumble from a safe distance.

    As with #Gaza, we are a truly despicable, shameful West
