     @glynmoody Nasty though they are to humans, mosquitoes, their eggs and larvae are a food source for many birds and other animals in the food chain. I suspect some of those are already endangered. I don't know how large scale this is but maybe working on a vaccine for malaria would be a better approach.

     It's a little stupid as well, the insects will evolve and it will come to naught.
     Better to figure out a way of preventing from transferring the diseases they carry, this will not put any pressure on them to evolve to not carry those genes
