@cdevroe the "reply" link is only shown on "local" comments. there is no possibility to answer to federated comments using the local comment form (except you are a user of the blog).

the idea behind that is, that we do not want to defragmant conversations. if a local thread on a comment from the fediverse is possible, the original author of the comment will never see the replies and can't be part of that.

@mrtoto @janl and even tumblr might follow, now that there is a migration of the Backend to WordPress.

@johnonolan oh, there is a preview feature in the Gutenberg editor and with WordPress 6.7 you can extend this dropdown, so we added a "Fediverse Preview" to see how your post might look like on Mastodon for example... maybe there will be more in the future...

@manualdousuario I totally understand your usecase and I would love to have the per-post feature, so feel free to file an issue!

@manualdousuario but how can I get sure with what intention you disable comments!?! I think it is not a good idea to mix these two settings up! We experienced that the hard way with the Webmentions plugin, where we did that.

I would prefer to add a dedicated setting for enabling/disabling incoming reactions on a per post basis.

Can you maybe file an issue, describing your problem/usecase?

@manualdousuario the reason behind that is, that quite some users want to deactivate local comments and fully rely on the fediverse.

maybe we will add a setting to deactivate it per post in the future.

@manualdousuario it is, but you can deactivate reactions from the fediverse with a const: https://github.com/Automattic/wordpress-activitypub?tab=readme-ov-file#constants

simply add `define( 'ACTIVITYPUB_DISABLE_INCOMING_INTERACTIONS', true );` to your wp-config.
