@ktneely To my knowledge, AppImages have a "framework" which you can't update and the "app's filesystem" (which the app has free reign in). Obsidian is an Electron app, so when you press the "update" button in Obsidian, it probably updates the bits getting opened by Electron (maybe Electron itself?), not the AppImage framework.
A downside about the AUR is that you're also always on the bleeding edge, which may not always be desirable and also can lead to dependency hell (which is something that projects like AppImage and FlatPak try to avoid).
Sometimes via a packagemanager (apt, dnf etc.) works but not always. It's honestly one of the bigger things Linux is lacking in and probs will never really solve.
@kaia It doesn't quite "cheer me up", it just reminds me that I can either make the choice to fall to despair or get more stronk so I can at least die without regrets when the time comes.
@kaia Judging by my past experiences with colleagues getting promoted, it's 80% relationships and 20% job skill. Seen so often that people who'd barely have the skill to keep up with interns get raises and promotions way before those with high amounts of skill.
To someone working in HR, someone that just knows the basics can quite easily look just as skillful and impressive as someone with advanced knowledge The way they perceive your skills plateaus really quickly.
On the other hand, when you have the relationships, you can (ab)use their emotional-based reasoning instead.
When I still worked in IT I always said to new people: "HR isn't gauging your skill, they are gauging your personality".
What @kaia wrote: "Colleague tried to hide data but I just parsed it anyways" What I read: "Colleague would make for a horrible data security engineer"
@raccoon I've been looking for alternatives as my bank just tells me to use Google Wallet (which I cannot use due to the Play Integrity API cucking me). Any suggestions?
A few years ago, Google introduced the new "Play Integrity API".
Google Wallet requires at least the "MEETS_DEVICE_INTEGRITY" verdict (which requires a signed ROM loaded in by a locked bootloader).
At the moment, custom ROMs can only get the "MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY" verdict (due to needing an unlocked bootloader to be able to load unsigned/unapproved ROMs).
