Just be aware please that for some of us this is a big issue: I follow many accounts from other instances... my home feed is almost empty since federation was disabled, am pretty much isolated at the moment. I don't like using multiple instances for different things so I prefer waiting, but have clearly missed out on a lot in the meantime. Sucks that the #fediverse wasn't better prepared for such an event.

@satori A quick little idea: What if a script could be used to detect when the server is stressed and temporarily shut down federation every few minutes based on that? I take it that's not a builtin feature of Mastodon as no one would have imagined it being needed, of course with Linux scripting anything can be automated.

@satori I'm most concerned with too many normies from #Twitter coming in contact with the art here: Many of them are ISIS levels of radicalized by puritan cultists, especially those obsessed with "protecting" children from whatever magical danger is being simulated in the depths of their broken minds. If they get scared they may try turning the government on us, like they did with the #UN a few years ago and now payment processors. Just a thought to be careful with them in general.

@ryo So a classic case of "we need to turn on other people like ourselves in order to deflect from us being like them so we keep our acceptance for a bit longer".

@ryo Wish more platforms including the commercial ones thought that way: By far the main reason the mainstream internet has become garbage is people thinking anything that looks a little bad must be stopped and the only way to stop something is via rules. The #fediverse is designed so that things work themselves out as everyone finds the right place for them.

@ryo Didn't happen then but the issues faced now are different and usually much greater, whereas those older issues have been slowly piling up since then and may eventually reach a spilling point. This also includes more people turning against the EU and globalist agenda. We will have to see how much and how soon.

@ryo @yes And the irony is, those exact people turned me from being a progressive to being a conservative. They sabotaged themselves so hard anyone with a speck of common sense turned their backs and walked away!

I mainly hate the right because of their stance on sexuality and being transphobes and the child (over)protection garbage: If we had LGBT conservatives who didn't freak out at everything and think their stupid kids are always threatened, I'd probably be far-right by today's terms xD

@ryo Like many groups, crazed tyrants will take any perceived conclusion that justifies their tyranny. Indeed they aren't even considering that people just moved on to other places because they value their privacy and their user base has literally changed: They just found a parallel that sounds good at a first glance and are having fun with their new toy of a propaganda tool they happened to find while walking down the road at the right time.
