@genebean @agates @errhead I'm not understanding how ephemeral live streams and Podcasting can work together. What if it's a 24/7 stream, how do you download something that never ends? Or the opposite, what happens when the stream ends and is no longer is live and a Podcast client tries to access it? Obviously you've thought through this more than I have, so please do file an issue with our issue tracker with detailed examples, and we can discuss it there.
@agates @genebean @errhead Podcasts are RSS feeds with downloadable enclosures. What would the enclosure point to with Owncast?
@genebean @agates @peertube @errhead I'm afraid I'm lacking context here. What's the question?
@KSGamingLife @kappaesse @ed I'd recommend first finding exactly what the issue is. Hopefully the stream health page in the admin can point you to what exactly it is. See how low of a quality is needed for this particular mobile network. It's impossible for me to know, unfortunately, though. There are so many variables. Feel free to drop by the Owncast support channels for more in depth conversation if you're not sure what to do next.
Love all the customization people are making to their Owncast servers with the release of the new version. Owncast streamers are a creative bunch!
@juni There are no special upgrade instructions. Just overwrite the old version with the new version. If you're experiencing issues please feel free to file an issue so it can be looked at.
@hamishtpb The links are actually located elsewhere on the page:
@hamishtpb I'm pretty sure it just requires rel me auth, and that attribute is a part of those links.
@hamishtpb If there's anything that needs to be changed with those links to support what you're doing please let me know!
@hamishtpb I would think you'd just want to add your Fediverse handle as a link here: https://owncast.online/docs/website/#external-social-links
@hamishtpb What do you mean by the link code? You would normally add links through the admin.
@da_g Awesome! I'd love to chat! Feel free to drop by https://owncast.rocket.chat/ and we can discuss!
@AudraTran Thank you for the kind words! And of course feedback is appreciated, but decisions around fonts and colors were made for specific reasons, and there's history behind each choice on the home page. These are the kind of discussions that can happen with a designer. It's easy to say "use different fonts and I don't like your colors" but it's harder to really spend the time making something great. I hope you don't take offense to this. This stuff takes time and discussion and planning.
@AudraTran I appreciate the thought! Right now we're not lacking in general feedback, but are lacking in a way to turn opinions, thoughts, and future features into solid work that can be executed on. That requires somebody focusing on that aspect of the project. I hear "It's ugly" a lot, but I don't know what to do with that feedback. I want to change that.
If you've ever wanted to contribute to an open source project, but thought "I'm not technical" or "I don't program" but have experience with design Owncast would love to have you involved!
We're planning for future features and would love to have a designer involved early.
People say "Owncast needs polish", so maybe you can help make a real difference!

@blogoklahoma Yup! I've built multiple Brightscript/Scenegraph apps in the past, so I could write something custom, but this specific Owncast directory app was never meant to be a a big deal. But who knows, maybe I'll just feel like working on it again one day!
I'm not sure anybody really used it, since it was more or less just a quick convenience for people, but:
The Owncast Directory Roku app will be removed in January 2024 since Roku is removing the specific platform used to put this little application together. There are no plans to rewrite it. Sorry for any inconvenience.
@doctorterror There are indeed links to the directory from the Owncast home page.
@rmasoni @FediFollows Asking for help rarely yields results. Trust me, if it were that easy then none of this would be a problem. I'm sorry you're upset that your particular use case can't be supported, but I'm trying my best.
