I have somebody in my lil node of fedi here, has a partner going through a pretty rough cancer diagnosis and is looking for supports for the loved ones/care givers (as opposed to patient support).

Are there folks within my reach who have been through (or going through) similar and want to do some DIY peer support? Either via chats on mastondon, or I can facilitate a signal group where folks can chat more privately.

I've set a goal thingy on kofi to raise funds to cover the cost of an annual membership to my local conservation area.
I walk there a lot, and often find lil out of the way places to just sit with the trees.

It occurs to me, there's nothing wrong with my brain.

I would thrive in a slow, gentle world focused on candor and justice with lots of quiet, natural environments to chill and let deep thoughts unfold.

I just happen to be terribly wired for a society that's pretty much going off the rails in all directions.

I don't think people understand the debate around using CW's isn't about it sheltering the people you think "should" see it "should" care about it...

👉It is there to protect the people who are already experiencing the things you are outraged about.

It is there so the people who are already being harmed by society can have a break, can have some refuge in their socials and not be triggered.

Your displays of outrage are harming the people you are supposed to be advocating for. Be sensitive.

In #spoonieTown they pack your groceries for you.

AND help take them out to your car/bike/wagon.

AND if yer neighbours see you unloading groceries they wander up to see if you need help.

I walk by a school yard that has a disappointing amount of snack litter blown up into the shrubs and such. It makes me sad.

It's too much for me to pick up, but I can't shift the Marge Simpson grumbles of disapproval at the state of things.

In an inspired moment of clarity today I realized I could pick up one piece every time I walked by. It allows me to feel like I am responding to the need, but not swamped by it.

I'm sitting here looking at the mushrooms coming up through the rotting leaves, and thinking about how much grief and loss are required for growth and change.

Moderation tools I wish were available at the user level:

1) the ability to reject and remove unwelcome comments on my thread.

2) the ability to send a toot with comments closed entirely, not everything has to be a discussion/argument.

So..... I have rapidly developing cataracts (thanks 🤬 prednisone and/or weird assed immune system).
Am awaiting cataract surgery referral.
In the meantime hit me with your best cataract hacks to get me through, lighting tips n whatnot.

This is changing faster than I can discover workarounds so definitely want to tap the wisdom of those that have gone before.
