@tk I'm truly despised about how many marketing folks are betting heavily on #TikTok to reach out to young consumers. This platform is evil trash, controlled by China, sending data to China and engaging in nasty manipulation through its algorithm.
We do know that the size of the average car in the #UnitedStates is utterly bonkers. And that heavy cars (SUVs and pick-ups) with towering bonnets pose a serious threat to pedestrians and cyclists.
@djsumdog Nope. I'm advocating for violence against violent enemies of our rule of law and constitutionality. If that violence comes from the FBI, I'm more than fine with that. But I will certainly NEVER offer the other cheek to violent extremists once they start with their shit.
@Kang_Kong2 Thanks for further amplifying the reach of my call to rightwing trolls and racist minions. I know you guys can't control yourself and have to send me some insults or very, very funny memes as a reply and to show how many you are.
Which only improves my user experience here, because I can mute or block you muppets and keep your toxic nonsense out of my federated timeline.
A great xmas present, thanks for that. No go eat some Brexit pie.
One more time: We are discussing helmet mandates and NOT helmets as such.
It's about priorities. It's about labeling #cycling as something dangerous. It's about lazy politicians fighting symptoms rather than addressing the cause of accidents. It's about lame excuses in order to avoid investments in safer infrastructure.
It's NOT about the question if a helmet protects. Got that? If so: great. If not: Not my problem.
If you wish to enter a discussion with me, make sure - to be well informed and stringent - not to resort to condescending choice of words for a lack of arguments - not to mistake smileys, memes or other nonsense for arguments.
Non-cyclists clearly do not understand that mandatory helmet laws are NOT a matter of vanity or keeping your hair style intact (my "hair style" is non-existent, as everyone familiar with the real world me certainly knows). These kind of laws that put the onus on the most vulnerable in #traffic are fundamentally wrong. These laws attempt to reduce unnecessary damage while painting an efficient and healthy mode of #transport as dangerous. These kind of laws hurt #cycling as such.
@tomtom 1. Motorbikes are a wee bit faster and heavier than bicycles. With this comes more danger. 2. Motorbikers are not the most vulnerable road users. 3. Motorbikes often have a lockable container to put the helmet.
4. Don't you dare to call my arguments "stupid" - I've won way too many arguments regarding this very topic to know they are NOT. Calling them out as "stupid" without any specifics: that's blatantly lazy however. And not the kind of "discussion" I tend to engage in.
Can we have a slow clap for #Japan's government? This is a breathtakingly stupid decision that will eliminate #cycling as a relevant mode of transport. Making helmets mandatory has been proven repeatedly to lower overall bicycle use. And where there are less cyclists they are more endangered. Do you want to make cycling safer? Than bloody invest in #infrastructure and don't come up with mandatory helmet laws. And no: that's NOT news.
It's been almost on month since I've returned to Switzerland from #Taiwan. Apart from the weather, the thing that I miss most obviously is #guabao aka TW's hamburger with pork belly and some veggies in a steamed bun. #food
@tk Haha, I have not. It's way too hard and intense an effort for anyone who's not following a serious training an nutrition plan. As one top mountain biker in Switzerland said to me in an interview cyclocross is a full hour of going all out, freezing and suffering.
With two laps to go the deficit of Jens Adams to race leader Gerben Kuypers has come down to 22secs. We're looking at a thrilling finale of the men's Exact Cross in Essen. #cyclocross
@eben Add badly organized lockdowns in cities such aus Shanghai, Guangzhou where people are not completely isolated from the world and the world wide web. These lockdowns exposed the corruption and ineptitude of the #CCP. And the arbitrary nature of many repressive methods within #China. Will the people overthrow the regime? It would be massive for world politics and #BRICS.
