Il y a 2 aspects sur le premier point : la modération parfois violente de certaines instances. Pour ça, ma reco est effectivement d'aller sur des instances généralistes gérées proprement.
Les réponses “manquantes”, c'est un vrai souci, qui vient des contraintes techniques de la fédération. On a des plans pour améliorer les choses, mais il faut du temps / des devs.
Pour le non-affichage des compteur, c'est un choix de design, mais je vais en discuter

We do nit have a presskit, but this is a good idea. Not sure what should go in it, do you have any recommendations?
For press releases, unfortunately it costs a lot of money to pay a PR firm to send those .

@teleclimber You could use Let's Encrypt to get a wildcard certificate for your local domain (or subdomain) through DNS authentication (it is the recommended best-practice to assign a real domain/sub-domain for internal use, to avoid any conflicts).
An alternative (that I deployed for my own usage) is using @tailscale which will provide this "internal" domain, generate the certificates, and as a bonus allow me to access my "internal" services from everywhere

One year after installing my instance, I am now the technical lead for the project, acting as the CTO of Mastodon gGmbH, recruited a full time devops person, and spending (too much?) time trying to fix everything I can to ensure the project continues to move forward and improve day after day.

What a ride! But it is a very enjoyable one, I am feeling so useful and I am meeting wonderful people 🥰

One year ago, I decided to leave Twitter and start my own Mastodon instance for myself and a few friends.

I quickly started supporting the project on Patreon and joined the Discord, to see if I could help some people with scaling up their instances, as I was familiar with the stack and I know the drill.

A few weeks later, I was reworking the whole hosting for the project, then mastodon.online, and ultimately mastodon.social…

@kallekn I do not know when we will be able to fix this, but the various language-related features need a rework as a whole. Added it to my list of things to keep in mind

@keefmarshall Thanks for all the details, this is indeed caused by the automatic profile refresh that happens when an instance is notified about an activity from an account that has not been refreshed in the last few days.
It incorrectly re-validates the profile links.

I opened https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/27755 to track this

@keefmarshall the link is probably in the parent post, and each server fetches it if it does not know it when it receives the boost notification.
We want to fix this in 4.3, if we manage to find a working design.

@mjhn @niavy pour info, la maintaineuse principale de Glitch est aussi la développeuse employée par Mastodon, donc on connait très bien Glitch.
Si des fonctionnalités ne sont pas portées, c’est qu’il y a des raisons soit de produit (par ex la limite de caractère est un choix, qui ne change pas pour le moment) ou techniques (par ex le formatage des messages, qui n’est pas implémenté comme il faudrait sur Glitch)

Meilleure idée du moment : inviter @soulcie en grand format sur @Mediapart, pour raconter en dessin... le dessin (de presse). Comme d'habitude, c'est brillant et drôle. Vivement la suite.

@Shadow @vmstan It should be, but the `main` branch is for the adventurers that are not afraid to run very fresh code. We (or should I say I? :D) have been doing major refactors lately, and there might be some bugs. Please open issues if you find any :)

@rakoo Not sure yet, each time we think we have a good idea, we find something that does not work correctly.

@Poulpette This will be done automatically, based on various criterias, for example who you recently interacted with, or account followed by your follows.
There is a big onboarding issue where new users struggle to find accounts to follow, and as we do not push content from accounts you do not follow into your feeds, helping users to gather their first 10-30 follows is important if we want users to stay.

@gh0sti The blocked server users will not be notified, but the local users (on the server who initiated the block) will be. We do not think this is an issue, and will improve users’ view of their moderator & admin actions.

In the last few weeks, I have been trying to organise the #Mastodon development work, so our (very small!) resources are used efficiently. This led us to a tentative roadmap for Mastodon 4.3, with a (very optimistic) release date before Christmas.
