@Mrfunkedude @sexybenfranklin ok but what about leaking classified military documents in your favourite game about tanks?

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Saturday, 22-Oct-2022 00:23:32 JST Riedler @flaky @jk huh, that sounds like you're using deadbeef… are you? I had a similar problem a year ago or so, but overall, deadbeef is the best music player I've had - ever.

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Friday, 21-Oct-2022 23:44:56 JST Riedler @jk that's because companies don't care if they break your Linux with random shit. I had a friend who downloaded a .run file to install Nvidia drivers. Broke his installation, had to reinstall. What you experienced is the exact same thing. They were both official software which should've been tested enough to not break your entire system. But they don't care and move the blame to Linux itself.

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Friday, 21-Oct-2022 23:44:55 JST Riedler @jk The truth is that I've broken Windows a bunch of times as well. The key reason why I use Linux now is that I can fuck around, find out, and then fix it again. With windows, this is usually impossible (and good luck with MacOS lol).

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Aug-2022 18:54:11 JST Riedler @a1ba side tangent, but I'm not too fond of the newer 'K' variant of resolution descriptions either. 1080p and the rest defines the (approx.) amount of vertical pixels while 2K define the (approx.) amount of horizontal pixels. 2K and 1080p are both usually 1920x1080, yet people usually think 2K is more because they assume 2000>1080. Not great.
2nd rant also over ?

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Aug-2022 18:52:46 JST Riedler @a1ba the issue is with them not using the numbers, but the marketing terms. 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2K, 4K, 8K are all precisely defined (precisely enough, at least). HD, FHD, QHD, idkHD aren't.
Also, if we're talking about video resolutions, there's a very important difference between 720p and 720i, but both are just called HD.
And don't get me started on SD (Standard definition) being anything between 480i and 576p, therefore not being properly standardized at all.
anyway, rant over.

Riedler (riedler@mas.to)'s status on Tuesday, 16-Aug-2022 18:37:41 JST Riedler @a1ba still salty that most people mean 1080p when they're talking about HD and not 720p, which is actually what HD is. 1080p is FHD (full HD).
