@chris my focus is of course very European and German, and I'm trying to use as few US services as possible. A service provider for white label email hosting seems to be difficult to find, these days.

@chris good question. I tried to diversify myself and chose Fastmail for my personal email account, INWX and Porkbun as domain registrars and MxRoute for white label email hosting - but i am looking at Migadu for my domains (mostly catchalls, rarely used addresses and testing). For compute and s3 storage I use Hetzner and Netcup and will move my Hugo blog away from GitHub some time this year. For ghost hosting I'd choose Magic Pages.

@chris Phew 😮💨. Hope you at least got a discount for this "defect" when you bought the place. My bedroom and office gets 25ish degrees hot in spring, and 27 to 28 in summer constantly. I am regularly thinking about moving because of that. Just bought an AC for this reason. I think I would die in your apartment 😁

@chris Is there no way that your building gets a heating system from this century anytime soon? That you cannot regulate the heat in your own apartment sounds rather archaic to me. Hope you get some good sleep soon 🤞

@chris I hear you, but at the same time I feel if this is the only two hours one has for themselves, then there are other issues at hand and one needs to rethink priorities and lifestyle. But just imho

@chris That sounds terrific. Please document/blog that somewhere. I am currently using a webdav share where I put specially formatted iAWriter Markdown files in and then a script goes in and creates Frontmatter, changes formatting and commits it to GitHub. I also have a little Telegram chatbot. But it all feels very flimsy at the moment. So I'd be curious about your workflow

@chris I cannot put a finger on what rubs me the wrong way with macOS 26. I just installed it in a VM and it just looks weird. Haven't made up my mind yet if I will upgrade at all on the Mac side or just wait until macOS 27.

I think I will give iOS/iPadOS a chance and install iPadOS 26 on one iPad but will wait until .1 for my iPhone, which is my daily driver.

@dtauvdiodr @chris Where did all the email clients go that did one thing, and that very well – and locally on your freaking machine. I miss those times.

Ich suche: einen Weg ein iPhone für einen älteren Menschen einzurichten, der motorisch eingeschränkt ist. Durch Polyarthritis ist es schwierig so ein flaches Telefon zu halten, das Display wird oft unabsichtlich ausgelöst und wenn es drauf ankommt, wird der Druck auf das Display nicht angenommen.

Alternativ: ein passendes "dummes" Mobiltelefon das mit solchen Einschränkungen gut bedienbar ist. Auch wenn das Wegfallen von WhatsApp, iMessage und Co echt doof wäre.

@felsqualle maybe bring it to @shanselman attention. As far as I understand it, he was vital in releasing it to the public. The issue tracker is probably not enabled, is it?

Meh. Very sad :blobcatverysad:. Can't get #ActivityPub working on my #Pixelfed instance. It is enabled, all workers look good, nothing failed. The logs do not show any issues either.

I can find people on remote instances and subscribe to them, but I do not show up as follower, nor the Pixelfed account as follower of the other account. Also I cannot see any of the remote user's posts.

Looks like it is not ready just yet for the non-developer. A bit sad though, because it made so much progress in the last couple of months.

I am impressed with the progress that #pixelfed made in the last couple of weeks and months since I last tested it. It feels much better now. But I still have no clue how to get the config right to use b2 as an s3 compatible alternative. Nothing seems to work.
