   I used to think this. Now I know that, at least for many, it’s the only 2 hours of any day they have to themselves.

   Don’t get me wrong, I love remote work and that type of commute was a strain for me but it also showed me that my experience isn’t the same as everyone elses.

     @jason I don’t disagree there, but it isn’t a problem I have either. If that’s a break for those folks then I wouldn’t want to take that away from them.

     @chris I hear you, but at the same time I feel if this is the only two hours one has for themselves, then there are other issues at hand and one needs to rethink priorities and lifestyle. But just imho

     @billyadams Do you mean physical mileage? That would be kinda interesting to me. My last commute, which ended in August, was about 3.5 miles. It usually took about 15 min in the morning but was often 70-80 minutes going home.

     @bomkatt @Jennifer That makes sense. When I was commuting here it was by bus which took out a lot of the stress.

     @Jennifer @chris similar with stop-and-go traffic here. I listened to many good books and podcasts, but I'm always stressed when I get home because of the drive is ugly.

     @chris I commuted at least 45 minutes each away for years. The last ten years or so before starting to work at home I listened to audio books or podcasts so didn't feel like it was a total waste of time, but I'm happy not to have the stress and expense of that much driving every day (there is no public transit here).

     @bomkatt @Jennifer In the morning it was great. The way home changed this year. By march the bus I took got so crowded that, if it even stopped to let me in, I was squashed in the door and could barely stand much less read anything.
