I went to a Bulwark Live event last night in Nashville and it was awesome! It made me feel hopeful for the first time in a while. One of the highlights was Justin Jones, one of my state legislators who got kicked out by the Tennessee republican supermajority a few years ago after trying to force change after yet another school shooting. He's inspirational. And only 29!! He said as punishment for the incident a few years ago he was removed from his committees and put on the agriculture committee because he has no experience with agriculture. But he started traveling around the state meeting with farmers, and now he's one of the only elected officials meeting with them about the impacts of tariffs. He said a lot of people in deep red districts are changing their minds about democrats because they're the only ones trying to talk to and help people. A friend of mine recently returned from a trip to the EU. At customs in Nashville coming home, she said she saw a white European female traveler having to take off a jacket and show all her tattoos and explain what they mean. CBP is evidently targeting everyone, not just people they think look "foreign." Nobody should visit the US.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act could prevent many married women from being able to register to vote.

Much of the documentation listed under the SAVE Act is based on having a birth certificate that matches the person registering to vote. However, as many as 69 million married women in the United States have changed their legal name since getting married, meaning their name does not match their birth certificate.

The SAVE Act does not include proof of name change or a marriage certificate as acceptable proof of identity.
