The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act could prevent many married women from being able to register to vote.

Much of the documentation listed under the SAVE Act is based on having a birth certificate that matches the person registering to vote. However, as many as 69 million married women in the United States have changed their legal name since getting married, meaning their name does not match their birth certificate.

The SAVE Act does not include proof of name change or a marriage certificate as acceptable proof of identity.

Our system is pretty dispersed and stronger than you imply. @ai6yr this is a scary article. I don't understand why they waited so long to issue an evacuation notice. I'm not in fire country, but I rely on official warnings to know when to take shelter from tornadoes. I can't imagine many things worse than being stuck in traffic trying to evacuate and seeing flames all around.

@chris I was saying this to my husband yesterday. Our dishwasher is two years old and I just noticed the heating element is warped and is melting the spinny thing. My parents had the same dishwasher with no problems for probably 20 years.

It's been a day. I discovered the people on a new team I have to work with think LA is burning because of satanists and that my family and friends who live there (and I guess aren't satanists) shouldn't worry because god will take care of everything. I need some wine.

I really hate Meta. I just created a new Pixelfed account.

Meta is deleting links to Pixelfed, a decentralized Instagram competitor. On Facebook, the company is labeling links to Pixelfed.social as “spam” and deleting them immediately. Pixelfed is an open-source, community funded and decentralized image sharing platform that runs on Activity Pub, which is the same technology that supports Mastodon and other federated services. Pixelfed.social is the largest Pixelfed server, which was launched in 2018 but has gained renewed attention over the last week.

@mekkaokereke @Makyris I'm wondering if the DNC is going to recalibrate to appeal to its previous base. I'm guessing the answer is no. The party pretty much abandoned my state after 2010 at both the state and federal level.

@mekkaokereke I live on the TN/Al border. A few years ago I went to to Equal Justice Initiative museum in Montgomery and the museum has a whole section about the shift from slavery to mass incarceration. I didn't know anything about that until I visited and it was illuminating and horrifying. I highly recommend everyone visit that museum, especially white people. Our prison system really is modern day slavery and democrats have done a really bad job helping to create a truly equitable society. Alabama used a chunk of its covid relief money to build more prisons and the Biden administration didn't try to stop them.

DuckDuckGo is my default browser and I get the following error trying to use the app, the above error window opens in DDG. I can log in to pixelfed.social on Chrome. I don't want to change my default browser, any ideas?

This has probably been around for a while, but I just saw it at Publix today and got some, Bob's Red Mill egg replacer that cost $4.60 and is the equivalent of 34 eggs. It's made from potato starch, tapioca flour, baking soda, and psyllium husks. This is for baking and I'm going to try it soon. Way cheaper than eggs! #Eggs #EggReplacer
