It's open source -- a rarity in convention software, but in my opinion, so critical to the trust we must have in the process -- and made with #Python and #Django and many other software libraries that are also freely given to the developer community.

Out of this, I learned the term “Anchoring” to describe an effect I observe in myself when using an LLM while working on a problem, and that I find problematic. I hope to use the fact that I now have language for it to help me break out of that loop.

The #HugoAwards nominations opened today. For the third year in a row, I'm proud to be responsible for making the software that you'll use to nominate and vote, which is open source and free software.

In a culture that is brutal in its suppression of #SexWork, including disapproval, punishment, debanking, and every other means of devaluing the people who do it, to see #AI companies pivot to “horny" is even more awful than many of their other industries.

Let me get this straight: it's okay to throw billions of dollars at letting people get off to LLMs, but if a woman wants to get paid to turn men on, that's wrong somehow?

Whatever you think about the killing of the insurance company CEO a few days back, I think we can all agree that the amount of effort being put into finding this killer far outstrips the amount of effort put into solving the murder of "regular people".
