I've sometimes wondered, for up to a couple of seconds, why it's "work FROM home", rather than "work AT home" ?

I tend to think of "from" as a starting point, which is then left. Like this definition:

from

preposition
Used to indicate a specified place or time as a starting point.
"walked home from the station; from six o'clock on."

Why does #Mastodon get translations wrong, and is there some way I can choose the correct language to translate from?

In this case, the original is Esperanto (as the hashtag identifies), but Mastodon decides that it's Polish, and "translates" it into gibberish.

Something else I noticed, after watching, rewinding, and stepping through parts of Meg 2 - Jason Statham's Harpoon Continuity Person needs a refresher on introductory subtraction.

Context: leaves beach on jetski, to save the world from Megalodons, equipped with 3 harpoons strapped to his back.

1:25:45 - 2 harpoons on back, 1 in hand
1:25:51 - throws harpoon #1
1:25:55 - 3 harpoons on back
1:25:57 - NO harpoons on back!
1:26:13 - throws harpoon #2
1:26:24 - 2 harpoons on back !!!

The cows use tornadoes to gain altitude, then drop on the sharks with their deadly hooves.

It's car registration time, and I was surprised to find that I've driven less than 1,500 km in the last year.

On the other hand, I'm now averaging about 500km per month on my #bicycle.

When there were jobs in the mix, petrol was about $60/week, then post-work about $60/month. Now that I've become a middle-aged guy who rides a lot but refuses to wear lycra, I spend about $60/year.
($60= a tankful)

So, the $ spent on a bike < petrol savings.
Therefore I need to spend more on #AliExpress #cycling goodies. 🤪

Also, I've discovered low-km, or pay-as-you-drive car insurance.
Initial investigation looks like my premium will drop by about $1,000 🤯
So, I'll be able to afford *another* bike.🎉

Also also, despite my weight staying exactly the same as it's been forever, my resting heart rate has dropped from 85-ish, to 55-ish over the two years in which I've accidentally become a bike rider.

Thanks to a couple of mastodon folk who contributed at pivotal moments - a technical point which got me into doing my own maintenance, and an attitudinal one which has helped habituate riding.
