#MLB is ruining baseball. I've said it before. Like ALL corporations, all they care about is profit. The game itself? Who cares.
Let's ONLY show home run highlights on MLB to make people ONLY care about offense. Add 5 or 6 more wildcard playoff spots so the league is a joke like the NBA and NHL where half the teams make the playoffs. This is of course to get max TV revenue.
Now, even if you pay MLB their extortion fees, you can't watch all the games because they give some to other services.
Did I mention that a week or two ago I got a new debit card in the mail, except it wasn't in my mailbox. It must have been delivered to the wrong apartment, and whoever got it must have (?) opened it reflexively, because it was stuffed in my front door, OPENED.
Senri is one of my favorite drummers right now, and Guthrie is just off the chain.
So we get a Senri-cam for a performance of Erotic Cakes, a Guthrie Govan tune.
And bear in mind this is a band of the local studio musicians put together to support Guthrie when he was playing in Japan. They're not his regular band (if he has one). But the players are SO GOOD it just sounds like they've been playing together for years.
OMG! I am watching this cool Dr's youtube channel, and she was talking about the tempo with which you are supposed to do chest compressions during CPR, and she said you do them to the beat of Staying Alive by the BeeGees.
Streaming platforms (video) are a grift. Now they're colluding to get you to sign up for others (as I'm sure you have seen). Today's ballgame is an Apple TV exclusive, despite the fact that I have an MLB account and that should allow me to watch all of the games.
I literally signed up for their 1 week free trial just to be able to watch it.
Someone boosted a post a few hours ago about a person who was asked by Road & Track magazine to write about their experience going to a Formula-1 race in Austin TX. They dedicated a few words to how the paddock (where they were allowed to go) was inhabited by people wearing clothes costing more than the authors' life savings, and other similar comments about how this sport is about the excesses of capitalism. The magazine pulled it their story, but it's still on Archive:
I am currently unemployed and prospects are looking poorly. I have a working roommate but 2 incomes are required to afford housing around here (unless you have a VERY good job). You might also have seen my advertising my audio services in the last few weeks.
Since I am a child of cable TV, I do miss having it and being able to watch things like live sports or live ANYTHING. One of the streaming services we have does do live sports, so I keep that on when I'm home alone to keep my mind from doing its catastrophic thinking.
Today it's football (soccer). Paramount+ has games scheduled all day.
I just boosted a post from the Astronomy Picture of the day, which is a site that has been going strong since June 16, 1995.
It's one of the first sites that I thought was really cool, and for many years it was the site I saw when I opened my browser every day.
Their archives go back to their very first post, which back then was HTML 1.0 . And I love the fact that even their modern posts LOOK like they could be HTML 1.0, even though they're not.
Dear HBO Max and all of the other crappy streaming services who are now gouging us if we want more resolution.
FUCK YOU.
I grew up on 480i B&W TV. You think "ONLY" getting to watch these movies at 1080p hurts my feelings? You think I'm gonna pay for 4K just because my TV supports it? Nope. Stop being greedy fucking assholes and give us what you promised when this all started. No commercials in particular.
